The editorial pictures look really cool, but I think Lauren's right - they look cool because they're editorial pics with lots of editing. I have a friend who's a professional photo retouched and it has completely disillusioned me with every advertisement/magazine photo. I think outside of a studio it's bound to look less extreme and more like color blocking, which is what yours kind of looks like. I like the purple on you, but it just doesn't have the same spotlight effect.
