Does it makes the nails weaker over time? Any experiences or suggestions?

In my experience yes, over time my nails did get slightly damaged but nothing compared to when I used to get acrylics/gels... which really does screw up your nails. Don't let your manicurist use the machine to buff your nails before shellac or when removing shellac.

If done right, shellac should not weaken your nails. your nails do need to be buffed, but not with the drill. a file or buffer block is just fine. also do not pick them off. that will take off layers of nails. get them soaked off with acetone.

Shellac won't damage your nails. I've had Shellac on my nails all of the time for years. You just have to make sure you remove it correctly (they always soak a cotton ball in nail polish remover and put it on the polish and hold it there with foil, after like 20 min the polish just falls off). And don't pick it off like Kelly said. I love Shellac. It looks more natural than acrylics and doesn't cause damage. It last a while if you find a good place (I've had mine on 3 weeks now and no chips).
