Wendy, I think it all depends on where you are going to do it. If you are going to go out to a restaurant/diner, tailor it to what you are wearing. Me, personally, I would probably do sultry eyes and bright red lips. If you are going to be at a quaint little cafe, or a hole in the wall location, then I would say something natural. Almost like your everyday makeup. So in conclusion, I would say, if it is a casual location, something natural, if it is a fancy wine and dine place then something elegant.
Keep in mind I am 15, so I know nothing about marriage, lol but I feel like what I said seems appropriate.

So to actually answer your makeup question... It really depends on the setting, as Dana said, but I think waterproof everything is a good idea! I'm a big crier, so if I ever get proposed to (or do the proposing myself!) I'm gonna cry like crazy. So choose products that'll last through that!

I think a nice/cute/but natural look is the best way to go. Waterproof mascara is your best bet..:) I'm only 14 so I might not know a lot about make up but...I do know some things :)

I would say, whatever makes you feel the most beautiful. But if there's ever been a look that he says he likes best, then go with that. Most guys like more natural looks, but some of them (like mine) appreciate creativity and confidence. And like other people have said, just tailor it to fit the occasion.
PS Best of luck!!! I'm usually too impatient to wait for a guy to ask me anything! If asking him to marry you is what feels right, then go for it.

I think whatever you feel most confident in. Maybe a smokey gold toned eye with a nude lip. This site is on makeup so people commenting of such should stop. Her question was what look should she do when she purposes.

I say pick either your eyes or lips to ecsentuate (sp) do a really pretty eye with a nude lip or a natural shimmer eye with a red or purplish lip. Congrats on the confidence of proposing im rooting for ya.

i took hit to a fansy restaurant in manhattan and after we went on a horse carrage ride and i propossed to him right in 42nd st
he CRIED
i had a natural look in my eyes and a dark shiny red lips
