Is the demand for makeup artists going up, down or stay at the same rate?
Is it easy to find work/jobs and advance in being a makeup artist today?
How does the industry and working in it change over the years and how will it in 2013?
Just wondering some "economical" info on the outlook of being a makeup artist as a career. I know living in Los Angeles- Makeup Artists are paid more and have more of an outlet in the entertainment industry. I was wondering more info about that.
I know there are lots of very seasoned & experienced artists on here so I was just wondering your input? I love the idea of being a makeup artist but is it a stable job to get into in this economy? SHOULD I have a back up? I'm 18 and trying to figure the whole career thing out :P Thanks.

I say have a backup plan. The field is growing and there are so much more people wanting to be artist verses when I started years ago but the difference is when I started I didn't have social media everything was learned from yourself.you took the time to learn the skills and practice just by looking at a magazine picture and you didn't have face primers lol and some of the things that are shared about how to or such are all old tricks that never went away in the makeup world it just seems new to younger up and coming people to makeup.you just made it happen if you have the passion for makeup. It's a lot harder now to be taken seriously because you really have to show it's more or means a lot more to you then some other person that does it because they learn some things from a video.Do it if your really sure it's what you want to do, but get info about the business side of it and as for pay it can be great but it can have it's downs to.I'm just sharing about my experience.Makeup artist are wanted every where just put yourself out there.Learn it all be open minded to every product and I really mean that because when your doing someone makeup they may like the feel of certain products, just because you may like it some clients may not.hope this helped a little
