I do it a lot! If the leggings are opaque and not see through, I treat them generally as pants... As long as my bottom is covered by a long shirt. However, depending on the fancy-factor of your event, this still might need a bit more to be appropriate for the event. If I were an usher, I would wear solid black so my movements did not disturb the play while I directed people to their seats... Or a button-up shirt/tunic, or even a shift dress! You want o stand out enough to look like ur there to direct people, but blend in to not distract from the play... Hopefully, they give you a name badge, and thatll be all you need to differentiate yourself from general guests.
