Can someone please explain to me how you should use mascara in a hygienic way when you have more than one client at once? I understand about using the disposable mascara wands but if you put them in and out (more than once) of the mascara, won't the "germs" be around still for the next client? Am I making sense? Any help would be appreciated.
I do the same thing that Andrew does and when I am done I have a spray bottle with alcohol in it and I will spray the top part of the mascara and wait for it to dry before putting the lid back on. I am a germ freak so I always make sure to spray and clean everything when I am done

I use a separate disposable wand for each eye so there is no double dipping. Or if I have a bride- I purchase a small mascara and include it in her touch up kit.
You cannot sanitize a wand between clients, and you should never double-dip. As far as mascara wands being terrible - honestly if you work the wand correctly and are using a decent formula, it doesn't matter what wand you use. That said, if you are picky about wands, I'm giving away my dirty secret:

A good fan brush will run you about 15-20 bucks, but you can easily clean it in between clients and re-use
"Never" use a disposable wand? Fan brush is an option, but honestly impractical for many environments, fashion week included. Also, bulk wands from qosmetix are super inexpensive. A mascara fan is good to have and use if you like, but it definitely wouldn't be my first recommendation for jobs that are on a time crunch.
That said, I LOVE that someone still mentions things like this...it's nice to see that some people are old school like me lol.

Makeup Designory (MUD) has mascara in a squeeze tube. You can use a palette and roll the disposable wand in the mascara or use a mascara fan brush.
