I was wondering if anyone had an advice. My skin is very dry and flaky. I have tried a lot of skin care products from high end to drugstore. Does anyone know any good cleansers preferably not Cetaphil because that didn't help.
Thanks.

I am having that sam problem right now unfortunately due to a prescription gel I am on. Cetaphil worked great for me, but I also reccomend Cerave as it contains hyaluronic acid which locks in moisture a lot better than any regular cleanser or moisturizer. I would make sure to exfoliate well three times a week, and after rinsing your skin, apply your moisturizer to lock in the water that exfoliating can sometimes take out from your skin. I hoped that helped!

hey hun
My skin is super super dry and flaky, I found that if i use a few products everyday it helps

first i usually use philosophy hope in a jar as a moisturizer
then i will put a nice primer over it, I love MACs primer because i fell like it locks in that moisture

then i try to use my clarisonic or some other gentle exfoliate every other night to get rid of the extra dead skin.

Thanks everyone for your helpful tips.

aquaphor, eucerin...that helped me and my daughter.

Amore Pacific makes a great cleanser... their products don't contain any water in them becuase water actually dehydrates your skin... the cleanser is about $50. a bit pricy but worth it.
You also should be using a toner... it's purpose is to balance your skins PH levels,as well as removing resedue left over from tap water, such as chemicals, pollutions, minerals, etc. Also, when you put a face cream ontop, it's just sitting on the resedue, and not really penetrating into your skin.

I really feel like using a toner will help for your skin A LOT!

I had the same problem a few months ago. I could not get those flakes to go away for the life of me. I switched my cleansers to the Yes to Carrots Nourishing Cleanser and Cera Ve's hydrating cleanser (I alternate between the 2). Also I bought Mario Badescu's Rose Hips Nourishing Oil. This is what REALLY helped my skin. I use 3-4 drops for my entire face before my moisturizer and it keeps my face flake free all day and does not break me out. Now I don't have to use it anymore except for on my dry spots around my mouth or eyebrows.

I had exactly the same problem alllllll winter. I have eczema-prone dry flaky skin. I managed to find a routine that works for me. FINALLY! I did a blog post on it (quite a few steps!) http://makeupgreed.blogspot.com/2012/02/my-current-skincare-routine.html

I send the oil cleansing recommendation. I have super dry skin and this winter I've been using oil cleanser and it's really helped. I'm currently using the Boscia MakeUp-BreakUp cool cleansing oil, but there are lots of different options, including DIY.

Something that really helps remove the dry skin is washing your face with baking soda. All you do is use a handful of baking soda while you are washing your face and scrub your face for about 5 minutes. Make sure you don't get it in your eyes though!
