Break out when i wear lipstick?

Does this happen to anyone else? I love lipstick but can never wear it..

Yes it happend to me.. I was so bothered by it I went to see a Dermatologist. Here was the advice I was given 1. Try a lip scrub twice a week 2. Try changing the brand of lipstick and not wearing for extended legnths of time 3. Can be caused by hormonal changes.
If your super perplexed by this, make an appointment or call your Dr.

here's what i do, *it works for me! haha*
just exfoliate my lips with my old wet toothbrush. then i just moisturize my lips with a normal vaseline/ or you could use a chapstick.

The steps are easy & will give its best result.
+ you can do the process 20 minutes before applying lipstick. i assure you, you'll be happy with your results! good luck! :)

It may also be the kind of lipstick you're using? Hm. Rae (RAEview) cannot wear most drugstore lipsticks because they make her lips peel like crazy. And anything with SPF in it drives her lips crazy. So she definitely invests in the higher end brands.

i have ulta brand lipsticks i figured they would be good quality but i guess not....haha. i hope the scrub will work i have naturally red lips so i dont mind not being able to wear red lipstick but id love to try out other colors n such, just hate the break outs afterwards:(

ULTA lipgloss made me break-out in small little bumps on my lips. They didn't hurt but they were annoying as heck because everytime I licked my lips I felt them on my tongue. Paige S. do you have the bumps too?

yes!! i almost thought i was allergic but they popd like pimples...and ever since i used the lipstick i constantly get the little bumps/pimples..:'(

@Paige S. I think if I kept using it day in and day out I probably would've gotten the pimples. The bumps popped up after day two of use. I was pretty bummed out about it because it was such a sweet shade and it looked perfect on me. Well, at least you'll have some fun rebuilding your lippie collection. There are some awesome shades being released this year by other lines. :)

this happens to me too :( I hate it so much I just stopped wearing lipgloss and lipstick all together.

@Paige S. the lippies that don't irritate my lips are from Bobbi Brown(both lipstick and lipgloss), Neutrogena(lipstick only), Lorac lipgloss, Laura Mercier, Stila lipgloss, MAC clear lipglass, Too Faced lipstick. I played with Clinique lipgloss and lipstick but they all gave me the bumps except for one....the Almost Lipstick line. Its a cross between a lipstick and lipgloss.

I had an immediate reaction to Covergirl lipsticks. My lips would swell up like balloons as soon as the product touched my lips then once the swelling went down, my lips were scratched up. Covergirl seems to be the only brand I can't wear.

This happens to me too! I find this mostly from a lot of drugstore brands to the point where my lips feel so dry and sore. But two that don't irritate me are Revlon and Neutrogena. Revlon so many great lipstick colours too. Higher end - Laura Mercier, MAC, Chanel, Tarte and NARS work just fine. Does anyone know if there is a certain ingredient that causes this? I wish I knew!
