Do you find a huge difference in quality between mac and drugstore lipsticks? i love macs formula and i love the colors but i compared MAC Creme Cup to 2 drugstore lipsticks and I dont find a huge difference. I love MAC a lot and i will continue to buy their stuff but do you find it necessary to spend the extra money??

Heres my comparison if you are interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mejs...
tell me what you think!

i've recently been getting into mac lipsticks. i personally like them better but then there are some great drugstore lipsticks. in the end, it's pretty much all about taking care of your lips. exfoliate, scrub, hydrate and prime. use a lip brush to apply the product and i can guarantee you'll be set. ;)

I like my MAC lipsticks more than my drugstore lipsticks (Maybelline, Loreal, Covergirl). Now I love my drugstore lipsticks and I love the NYX lipsticks but I find my lips more dry at the end of the day with drugstore brands than with my MAC lipsticks. Especially If I wear lipstick a couple days in a row. If I don't feel like adding gloss or a lip butter over top then I reach for my MAC lipsticks. I hear some MAC lipsticks are more drying than others and I dont own enough to know! But Ive decided that if Im going to spend the money Id invest in a MAC lipstick or another brand that my lips enjoy.. like Laura Geller :D

I generally have good experiences with MAC lipsticks. I think it depends on the drug store lipstick though. Some of them are great, but their usually hit or miss. I do LOVE Wet n Wild's Megalast Lip Colors, they're opaque and long lasting. :)

Are MAC lipstick better than NYX? I bought 3 NYX lipstcisk to try out and I hate them. They show all my lip lines and although it goes on smooth I don't like how my lips look with it on.

I really don't like most NYX lipsticks either, they stink, their sheer and they don't last long. However their Matte lipsticks are fantastic! They are creamy, opaque and are long lasting.

The only drugstore brand lipstick that I'm pretty successful with is CoverGirl. As far as MAC goes if it has a shimmer or is super matte I have to use a lip balm before application because they do tend to dry my lips out. I tried NYX in the past and they made my lips so dry I looked like I had kissed a freakin' powder donut. If you wanted to see ashy lips mine were it wearing NYX. Everyone experiences products differently so it all about experimenting and figuring out what is a hit and what is a miss.

i agree with you all! its a hit or miss with every brand. i think i will start investing in more MAC lip sticks though since i have enough drugstore lipsticks.

Personally I am not all about lips when it comes to products, I like to splurge on face products to make my skin look flawless. I save my money for other things besides lipsticks so drugstore all the way!

stacey, thats smart! i wish i did have one high end foundation like chanel or dior! but i always gravitate towards lips! its an addiction!hahahahah

I don't really find that much of a difference. That, and I hate the scent of MAC lipsticks anyway.

never noticed a scent but now that you bring it up maybe i will! hahahahaha

I am so used to drugstore lipsticks, only because they fit into my budget and I enjoy of the quality of these lipsticks. I think MAC lipsticks are so popular, because of the brand name. I never owned a MAC lipstick, so I dont know the quality of them. But, I do like drugstore brands better.

I am not a Mac stan but I def have to go with Mac.

I love MAC, but there are plenty of awesome drugstore lipsticks. If you don't mind spending the money, that's fine, but if you want to save a few bucks, you won't miss out on anything. The thing I love most about MAC is the textures and the huge selection they have. But Revlon, Milani and Prestige (just to name a few) carry lovely lipsticks!

I love MAC but a lot of lipsticks from them have lead in it... A lot from Revlon as well.

I am in love with Clinique Different Lipstick. It's creamy and the red that I wear (angel red) is kind of sheer. I like that it's not too bold for being a red.

I really love love love MAC's Viva Glam VI lipstick. LOOOOOVE it.

Now, I really like the colors and what not of MAC's lipstick, I even tried out the Nikki Minaj lipstick this weekend. But it looked so horrible on me versus the MAC girls. I was with my step sister and she mentioned they should've "conditioned" my lips before applying the lipstick on cause then it wouldn't look all gross on my dry lips.

Now, I've tried tons of drug store lipsticks and it looks so gross on me. And I come to realize that it's probably cause of my dry lips. =\

But I will say this, Rimmel's Airy Fairy lipstick is second to the Viva Glam IV.

I LOVE MAC's lipsticks because they are very pigmented and smell nice. They also have an assortment of formulas which is nice as well. However, I find that Revlon and Rimmel both carry very pigmented lipstick. My only problem with drugstore lipsticks is the smell. I think that they all kinda smell like they are "trying to smell good" but instead have that weird smell. Because of the smell alone I am more apt to wear MAC lip products.

Side note, the NEW Revlon lip butters smell VERY good and are very moisturizing. Although they are not as pigmented as regular lip sticks they are lovely!

I prefer MAC. I don't like a lot of drugstore makeup, I use some L'oreal, I have some of the Maybelline Color Tattoos (that I use as eyeshadow base), & some NYX stuff, but I like the colors & staying power of MAC. I very rarely buy a MAC lipstick, I usually get them from the Back 2 MAC program-I have 47 I've gotten that way versus 3 I've purchased in the last 12 years.
Have you heard of the lipstick index? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipsti... One of the best mental pick me ups is to buy a really nice lipstick, like Chanel or whatever. It's a nice way to treat yo' self :)

I own four Revlon Colorburst lipsticks, three e.l.f. lipsticks from their Mineral collection, a couple of wet'n'wild ones, two Max Factor ones, and I've never noticed a smell. I've also owned MAC ones and, even though they supposedly have a vanilla scent, I've never noticed one.

Anyhoo. In my view, the Revlon Colorburst l/s's are excellent, and I'd say they're pretty on par with MAC.

@Isabella:
<<I love MAC but a lot of lipsticks from them have lead in it... A lot from Revlon as well.>>

Virtually every lipstick from every manufacturer -- from high end to indie brands, even ones that have never been tested -- has trace amounts of lead in them (they all use the same pigments; they have to in order to meet FDA regulations). Also keep in mind lead is a naturally-occuring substance. You'll find it in your soil, in your drinking water, in blueberries. Yet you don't see people telling you not to grow vegetables, or to stop drinking water, or to stop eating blueberries. (Something to think about.)

@Shelly I filter my water but that's cool. good thing to know.

i'm sure it depends on the drugstore brand and the colour itself. MAC has so many shades to choose from in a variety of finishes. Plus they count for back2mac...so to me that makes it extra worth it. All of my MAC lipsticks have super amazing wear time on them, so I don't really bother to look else where to be honest...

I think it all just depends on what lipstick to be honest, but for me I prefer MAC just because I love the brand and the lipsticks are amazing, so I wouldn't really want to go out searching for what can be better when I've already found a place I like :)

Revlon Revlon Revlon! The Super Lustrous formula is just unreal, I'd compare it to MAC Amplified or Amplified Creme. I own TONS of MAC lipsticks in a variety of formulas (Amplified/Amplified Creme and Satin are my favourites), and I wish I could have found more dupes in the Revlon, because it's just amazing. Feels great on the lips, and has awesome pigmentation.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE MAC and always will, but sometimes it's necessary to get out of that bubble.
