Ugh, I completely relate to your contrast hair lust, Andrea. I have all ofthe underneath of my hair and then some dyed bright green and I find it so gorgeous when it's braided. I almost do it for the braiding. I love the idea of black/white cause it's obviously the most extreme contrast there is..but since youve already done it, why not try some new colors to contrast? There are a lot of pastel hair colors trending right now, and if you do another color that isnt stark white, it wont take as long and damage as much to get it that way! For instance, if you want another unnatural color you can do any color that you only have to bleach your hair till it's a light yellow to then dye the color on top - less damage and work! And if the rest of your hair is black, the beautiful contrast we love will still be there. It also looks so good if you curl your hair...love it.

3 years ago I had the top layer of my hair white and all underneath black. It took about 8 months to get it all white because I did it so gradually. I wouldn't go back to it because it took forever to sort, but recently I've been kind of missing it because i like the high contrast and how cool it looks when braided! I thought I might just buy some black extensions to save my own hair in an underlayer or just streaks.
What do you guys think? Does it look edgy or trashy? I can't make my mind up!!! DISCUSS

It would be pretty awesome to see a black ombre. Not sure how that would work but I'm sure theres a way around it. I don't see many girls anymore with that look but I would say buying extensions and wearing them whenever you want to wear a braid would be fine. Also just to think about how long it's going to take to strip out the black once you're done with it.

Oh no I didn't mean ombre, good idea but I don't think it would work! And I've been through it, hence why I'm going to use extensions :) even if it's just streaks. I know some people think the black/blonde combination is kind of trashy looking though

Hey Andrea, the blonde on top, black on bottom look is not for me. Sounds like extensions would be your best bet to keep the look you want without going thru the whole process and bleaching, etc. Good luck :)

I think extensions is a great idea. Black, as you already know, is such a commitment color due to difficulty in trying to strip it out when you're ready to move on to something lighter. By having black extensions you're saving your hair from that kind of stress and giving yourself the chance to have more relaxed, natural hair one day, and funkier hair the next.

Absolutely! I have a few pastel pink, blue and lilac hair streaks already :) I think I might go with the black!! A lot of people hate it but I'm with you :P

I say extensions, in my opinion, its always better to keep the hair healthy versus damaging it with color. I know what you are going through, I think that would look awesome and would love to do that to my hair but bleaching my hair blonde always damages it because it is naturally so dark =/

I did the same with white hair on top and red underneath. Took me about that long to get the red out too.. I'd say just buy extensions so you can have the hair you want without the commitment. In saying that though, if you dye your hair black and don't like it, you can always bleach it out again however time consuming. Good luck :)

I would use extensions because if you ever decide you dont want it anymore, its an easy fix. Black hairy color has the same damaging effects of bleach. I have human hair clip in extensions in every color of the rainbow because I like to throw a little color in every now and then but its not permanent so I can take it out whenever I want! :]

it looks edgy, trashy is more of a crappy hair colors like faded random colors that don't even go with yourself. do it! :)
