I just recently got a touch up and I absolutely love it! Lol. It's just what works for ME. A lot of people experience a lot of damage with relaxers but I have no issues. I relax twice a year and make sure to stay on top of my deep conditioning and moisturizing and sealing to keep my hair healthy and long. I considered going natural but it's just too much right now and my natural hair is RIDICULOUSLY thick. Like my roots can make their own personal Afro inside of one LOL. Relaxing cut down a lot of time and a lot of maintenance for me. I can wash my hair, let it air dry and then bun without spending hours properly detangling, flat ironing my edges, or caking on the product in an attempt to lay down my frizzy edges. I love my pretty curlies but relaxing them a bit makes everything so much easier
I decided to go natural because ever since my first perm (10 years old) my hair has fallen out. I got fed up and decided to go natural. I've been transitioning with braids (yarn) for five months now. I'll big chop next year in January.
I'm natural & loving it. My last relaxer was 12/26/09, I bc'd 08/02/10. Had to do a 2nd bc 08/16/10 because of heat damage (flat ironing while transitioning). I love the versatility that natural hair gives me. I wear it curly/coily most of the time, but I use weaves & wigs as protective styling. I don't like to put much to my hair too often for fear of damage. I straightened it a few weeks ago, I won't straighten it again until next year. I admit that being natural is a lot more 'labor intensive' than being relaxed, but I still love it!
i want to go natural soooo bad the last time i had a perm was two months ago i want to wear my hair curly my hair type is 3c its a wavy curl and my hair is really thick any tips on becoming natural because i support women with natural hair and i want to be like you all ;)
Either you can go under a big chop Brie N. or just allow the perm to grow it. Either way u go its gonna require a whole lot of TLC, education, trial and error and a bucket full of patience. But the end result is so beautiful.
i know i see so many women rocking their own natural hair and its beautiful i cant see myself with short hair ill just let it grow out and cut bit by bit
Went natural about 4 years ago. I have naturally black hair that doesn't style or take dye easily, so i gave in finally. I love my hair now (irritating quirks and all!)
I'm currently growing mine out now and I already notice a difference. It's much more manageable. If I do color again it will only be highlights occasionally. But I started coloring mine because I liked to play around and because I didn't like my natural color. It's just a dark, indescribable color and its always been "blah" to me. Now I'm at the point where I don't care what my hair does as long as its healthy.
