I chopped mine off all the way. BALD and my hair grew back faster and healthier. My curls are bigger than before. I do not regret it. The growing out process however, has been a royal pain.

I'm tempted to do it right now!!! I flat ironed my hair a few days ago and already I'm tired of it. It's just too freakin' long. It doesn't fit into my active lifestyle of working out and being outdoors. I did cut my hair super short years ago and it was so liberating to not be chained down with hair appliances.

I do a big chop once every 2/3 years at least to donate my hair. LAST WEEK i cut off 6 1/2 inches so i could donate it, i have such a cute A line now and every time i cut my hair i want t keep it short. The next morning i woke up and all i needed to do was straighten my bangs and i was ready to go (AWESOME) and washing my hair is so funny cause i barley use shampoo & conditioner now and it feels amazing and so healthy!
All through high school i had very short hair so i didn't have to deal with it during sports then prom would come around and extensions would come out lol so i go back and forth from long to short naturally now :)

I've done it twice! Both times were because I wanted to go natural. I don't care for transitioning...so I just went all the way. My Dad cut my hair both time. SHAVED HEAD both times. I actually liked the look. I don't like the tiny afros...it needs to be a ceasar or at least long enough to twist. It feels great to not have to worry about your hair when you have a low cut.

My dad was really strict about cutting my hair as a kid... So I had Rapunzel like hair. But he told me that when I turned 18 I could do whatever I wanted with my hair length. So a few days after my 18th birthday I chop it off to a Pixie cute cut. I loved it and never let my hair grow past my shoulders till this past year because I had so many friends getting married and special functions that required me to do all sort of long-hair styles. I really miss my short hair and really don't know how much longer I can deal with it long. It's a lot of work especially since I have very thick and curly hair. Easiest way for me to handle it is by straightening it all the time.

I first did the big chop so I wouldn't have a long transition from relaxed to natural. It was a big transition to go that short ( I was almost bald) but growing my hair back out was worth it because my hair is now longer and healthier than ever. I recommend it most definitely for starting over from the beginning to get your hair back to a healthier state.

I have done this twice now. Once when i was 16, I cut my hair to a pixie cut. Never regretted it. Last April, (i'm not 28), I cut off 10 inches from my hair to a "lob". I still don't regret it to this day... but my hair grows fast - it has grown all 10 inches back in this year. :)

@Indya Thanks! I really loved that hair. My friend Kelsey is a hair stylist and it was part of my payment for babysitting her daughter Ryver. She moved last year, so I haven't had a haircut in ages. The girl I go to now is good, but Kelsey really knows how to work with my hair. I wish she didn't live so far away, because I'd have her do my hair all the time.
