Hi everyone!

I need some advice.. I have long hair that has taken me ageess to grow (like, years!) and I am considering cutting it into a long bob. I just feel it will be a little more grown up but I would still love some opinions! I just wrote a blog post about it, let me know what you think (or if you don't think I should bother!)

Also, has anyone else had such a dramatic hair change and want to share their stories?

I just cut all of my hair on Saturday. :) I got it cut shoulder length and i am loving it. It's easier to blow dry, doesn't get tangled and I think it makes me look more mature. You should cut yours too! Really long hair can sometimes make it look like your hair is wearing YOU and that its weighing you down. Thats another reason why i wanted mine cut.

I cut my hair really short when I was around 13 years old.... I hated it. I wanted something that would frame my face & all it did was make my face look even more round that it is. I didn't feel like myself at all.

So I grew my hair out & thought "what can I do?" So when I was about 14, I got really choppy layers that framed my face. I fell in love. That extra hair weight was gone, it felt lighter & I was so much more comfortable than ever before. I've had the same style since & I still love it. (I'm 19 now)

I would say to try a new style before going in & getting it it all off. Maybe some side swept bangs, some edgy layers, something new. :D & of course, if you don't like it you could just chop it off to your desired look. :)

I love the long bob and if you do not like it you have the options to use extensions. Hair always grows. Mine is thick and curly and I have had it as long to the strap of my bra. I started off my chopping off inches at a time and for two years I have had it short. I then grew it out to a long bob and it took 1 year exactly! I then chopped it off again.

Dont be afraid to make changes, as long as you are confident inside..it will truly show on the outside.

I love the look but I don't think I could commit to cutting my hair off again.. Every time I grow it out and cut it off I just end up wishing it was long again ::( lol Since I started growing it again I have promised myself I'm not going to cut it short again. If you can commit to it with no regret go for it but if you questioning it better to keep it long since you cant replace the length you lose for awhile.

I had hair that was so long, it was nearly to my butt. I am 27 and often get mistaken for a 18 year old (thanks asian genes) and thought that this cut would make me look older too. In April, I decided to take a plunge and go for a Lob (Long Bob), cutting off over 8 inches of hair. Let me tell you how liberated I felt... it felt great not to have so much hair, styling time was cut down, and it just felt easy. People didn't think I looked much older or younger and some people didn't even notice the drastic change!

How do I feel about it now? Well, 5 months later, I haven't gone back for a hair cut (that's bad I know) because I missed my long hair. I am trying to grow my hair out once again, but not keep it as long as it was before. I am really enjoying the different lengths of my hair as it is growing out.

Do I regret cutting my hair? NO! Hair grows back and I love to change my looks all the time. You can always wear hair extensions if you don't like it.

Like @Myrna says, don't be afraid to make changes as long as your are confident about it. Do what you want for you and only you.

i used to have my hair pass my bra strap, and do to me trying to bleach it (dumb mistake!O_o) i had to make the decision to whack it! I cut into a Kimberly Caldwell hair style.. To be honest i cried for 2 days strait and stayed in for a week. It was such a drastic change for me i couldn't handle all that at once. But after 3 months, it's grown out and i've gotten use to it. The hair cut wasn't bad at all - it was the drastic change that i wasn't ready for! Last time i cut my hair into a long bob, it was like a rihanna style hair cut - when she first cut it short into a bob. But i got my longer. I really loved it! only b/c it wasn't so drastic. Hair grows back, but make sure you don't get anything too drastic! Bc you'll have withdrawals! Take your time getting to the perfect length you want :) Bc once you cut it - thats it, it's not coming back in a month. lol! Either way - YOU ROCK IT ! and look beautiful doing it! XO Kiki

I completely agree with Myrna! I have a longer bob that is asymmetrical and whenever I want long hair again, I just put extensions in, that way I get both long and short hair. I think it's a great idea. I had long hair for the longest time and now have had short hair for about a year and a half and have kept cutting it since.

Thanks everyone, you've given me some really good advice! I think it's going to be a thing of extremes- i'll either get it cut off and hate it, or have it cut off and feel liberated and like 'why did I wait so long!?!?'. See I'm feeling more towards that i'm ready for a drastic change and that it's the right time, but every other time i've cut off my hair i've loved it for a week then been like 'what did I do I want my hair back!!'. I'm sure a lot of you know what I mean! So that's the only thing sort of holding me back! I have had extensions before and I didn't mind having them, It was just the maintenance that drove me nuts (they were always knotted!) so I guess at the end of the day, extensions are an option incase i'm not loving it!
I also had a suggestion to get a few inches cut off and see how i like it, then get more cut off when I want too.. but I think I either need to leave it, or go the whole way (I don't do things in half measures! lol)
Anyway this is what I'm thinking, thanks everyone for sharing their stories, it's really helped!! If I end up getting it done (which is more than likely) I'll have to post a pic to show everyone! :) xo

I used to have a gorgeous, flowing mane... *sigh*
I loved it to death, even curly, but I had to cut it off because I was cleaning windows for a summer and I didn't want to deal with it. I went straight from my super long hair to the length it is now.

I will say, I cried for two days, but I love it so much more now on me than I did my long hair.

The great thing about hair is, it grows back! :D Just try something totally different than you've ever tried before. Don't go to your stylist with a solid plan, and before you tell her anything, tell her you want to cut it shorter and ask them what they think would look best before you choose. They seem to know what's up (:

I've been growing my hair for the last 2 years, but recently (Sept. 9th) I cut most of it off, I actually have a long bob right now and I haven't regretted it at all! I'm so happy with my decision because it takes literally no time at all to do my hair, it took me about 40 minutes to dry my hair, now it takes about 10 minutes! It's amazing! I say go for it! & if you get sick of short hair, throw in some extensions.

Go for it a change is good and it will grow back and definitely have a haircut type in mind.

I think it would be a good idea to speak to a hairdresser about it, they should be able to tell what kind of haircuts will suit your face shape, other than though I'd go for it, it's only hair and it will grow back!

My hair was shoulder length and I cut it REALLY short. sometimes I wake up and think I look good, but othertimes I can't look at myself. I'm trying to grow it out so I can 're cut it again and get layers.
