I edit my videos on Windows Live Movie Maker (It's free). It's super simple and easy to use. And about worrying about rude comments, generally people on youtube are super sweet. You don't really have to worry about rude comments until you get a TON of subscribers. There's like, only one rude person in a hundred. And at that point you'll have 99 people who are super nice. I haven't gotten any haters yet and to honest, when I get some I'll probably be really upset but you have to look at the big picture.

Its kinda scary at first but if you enjoy it then go for it, don't worry too much about criticism and judgement, its the ppl who support you that matter -= )

Oh yea, I'm super scared to do it. The major thing for me is I always think "who would watch this?!" I don't wanna be talking to a camera for nothing! HaHa :P

i posted my first video a couple days ago. All of us on here love beauty, and we should be proud! I've been wanted to post a beauty tutorial since about 9th grade.I remember taking pictures of each step for a look with UD midnight cowboy limited edition set and I was too nervous to put it together into a video! I finally got the courage after realizing that its something I would love to do, and would get better at it with practice. You can't improve until you actually do it.
Plus, if you post it on here, we can all give each other feedback and help!
thats always nice :)

Okay, the first thing I noticed is that the video is very quiet. I turned my sound up all the way but it's still hard to hear. When you edit, it mgiht help to turn up the sound. The second thing I noticed is how clear the picture is and clean the background is. There's nothing that's distracting so that's very very good! Third thing, your lips look GORGEOUS! What lip colour did you use?
In all, keep filming how you did in that video. The lighting and background and everything is awesome. Just turn up the sound a bit! =]

Hi everyone!
I wanted to give some light on this subject because I was in your shoes too a couple of years ago. When I first started posting videos on youtube I had NO idea how to edit, how lighting works, what content I should talk about and how to present myself. Just so you can see where I started, this my earliest video that I posted on my channel:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEYPQQzSAHc
I have to admit that this video is not the first video I ever posted on youtube because I cleaned house and got rid of some videos but its the earliest one that is on there currently. I don't regret having this video up at all because I think of videos being online as documentation of progression and I think you all should feel the same way. Of course you're going to make mistakes but when you do, that's when you learn the most. Over time you'll start to get your feet wet, get comfortable in front of the camera, and if you put in the time you will also learn great techniques for ways to improve your video quality.
So you can see where I am now compared my first video, this is my latest tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AJHUpX1Mb4
When posting videos you just have to keep at it. With the whole concept of 'who will watch this?' you have to put yourself out there more than just youtube if you want people to view your videos. Most of the time people want to get to know your personality and get to know you as a person, so I created multiple accounts on different social networking websites like twitter, tumblr, dailybooth, blogger, facebook, etc. so that people can better trust you.
Wendy, I watched the video you posted on youtube and I think you did great! I do have a couple of pointers though that could help you get on your way. You need to speak up so that the camera can pick up the sound. Also I feel like the video is a tad long. For videos featuring you talking about products you want to keep them short and informative. When you learn to use editing software a little better I think cutting out parts where you're not talking or the information you're saying is not necessary, you'll keep the viewer engaged longer. I love that you showed your personality in the video, that's what everyone loves. Just keep being you and continue to get comfortable with making videos and I think you'll do great.
If anyone is interested, I've written a couple of articles on here about video tutorials and some help with making your videos better:

Thanks so much =D
I think I was a little quiet because I was a little shy talking to myself in my room :P
and I'll definately play around more with editing, I tried to snip out some parts... awful
Practice practice practice :)
Such an honor that you took time to watch my video, thank you so much for your constructive criticism, much appreciated.

I don't mean to sound like, overly self confident with it, but I was never to afraid... except of the opinions by my loved ones. I started sneaking(lol) making YT videos because I didn't think my mother would allow me to. With time, I asked her (sneakysneaky) if she would be okay with it and she said YES! So, now I make videos, but have yet to tell my friends... The fact is there's so many people on YT who understand what I was doing that I felt comfortable with doing what I was doing. But, for my friends... they don't exactly get my... err... obsession lmao. Also, I do believe Youtube has ALREADY changed my life, with only a count of 26 videos. Just believe me, it's an experience, that if you REALLY are into what your doing, you'll have the funnest time. Just be yourself and don't be concerned about the #'s, such as views, dislikes, subbers, and so on. Have fun doing what your doing for the sake of expressing yourself.

I also just started yesterday and I havent had many views. I am usually extremely outgoing but when it comes to being filmed I am very self concious. I hope that I am excepted nicely through here and through youtube. :)
