I first saw pointed nails on a Hungarian friend of mine last year. She had recently moved to the US and said the trend was huge in Europe. Lately I've noticed a few stars sporting the look (Fergie, Rihanna). What do you guys think? Will you try it out or do you think it just looks weird?

Here's a pic in case you haven't seen it just yet.

How would you go about living with those nails? I think it would just be too hard to be functional to follow that trend.

I have really long/skinny fingers and long nail beds so even if I wanted to try out the trend, I wouldn't for fear of looking like a witch! lol

I think I might try it... but only for going out. I can't imagine wearing this to work!

I saw the "NEWS" segment that Beautylish posted, and I'm a more of a SQUVAL (sp?) kind of girl. Especially when I like to get French Tip gel nails.

One time I got my nails done, this lady kind of made my nails more pointy... and I didn't really like it. =| It looked to pointy for me, especially when my fingers are more on the thin side.

I don't think I would do the pointed nails because I am scared I would end up hurting someone, or myself, by not paying attention to what I may be doing (my own makeup, someone else's makeup, hugging someone...) It looks a bit claw-like, and although I love to do things other people are not doing... but this isn't up my alley. :-)

I love this trend, I have my pointer finger and thumb on my right hand pointy right now. (They broke so I figured I'd tried the pointy rend and ended up loving it). I personally feel they look best with dark polish though

I hated those nails in the 1980s then again in the 1990s. Still not a fan of pointed nails in this decade either!

I think it's a fun statement, but they're not at all practical for me.

I honestly don't like this nail trend. I agree with Angela; I'd only try this if I was going out and only with press on nails so I can take them off after one night. I wear contacts and I feel like that would rip my contacts as I tried putting them in. To each her own though.

I like the trend but unfortunately I can't try it out but I do have oval nails. There a cute alternative if your not willing to go as far as the full point.

I actually had my nails done like that and I love em...my nail guy hand painted em for me...he didn't do so pointy tho. He did what we call the edge...here is a pic

I think the shortage pointed nails can look cool, but I've seen some shoots with outrageously long pointed nails and it's just not cute in my opinion. I would think using the bathroom would become a challenge.
