so a few months ago i decided to bleach the undersides of my bangs. they got to a really light almost bleach blonde. the reason i decided to bleach it is because i was going to go over it with a purple hair dye. eventually i did and then after it started fading quite i bit i was over it so i dyed my hair a dark golden brown (i have a bad case of hair ADD) Anyway, after dying it brown i noticed that where i bleached my bangs they had a greenish tint. at the time i didnt really mind it but after about a week its become more noticable. is there anyway where i can fix this problem?! i want to put my bangs up and out of my face sometimes but its at the point where im too insecure about the green. UGHHH. help!! please & thank you! <3

I've had a few almost-disasters trying to layer color over bleach in my hair experimentations too... I agree with Kristina B. that you should probably just go darker (that's how I fixed one hopeless "dirty blonde" from black color job). Adding color in is a whole lot less damage then stripping pigment out with bleach. Just rememeber that the color itself is gonna fade too and your green might show thru, so you''ll have to keep coloring until the hair grows out and you can cut the green parts off.

Also, do you use toners when you color/bleach?

That is a problem my stylist warned me about. I wanted to go blonde blonde, so she got me blonde as she could. Fast forward a few months, I wanted to go dark brown. She mentioned most girls just dye their hair brown, and she said that is a no no because your hair will actually come green. She mentioned something about bleach killing all the "pigments" in your hair. So before you go brown you need to put the pigments back in your hair prior to going brown. I sat forever in her chair cause she had to put te pigments back in, then color my hair dark brown. (I don't recall exactly what it is... The actual word I'm looking for may not be pigment... It could be called something else)

To fix this, you can either go to a hair stylist, or two look for a "color restorer" type of thing at your local drug store. It will "restore" your hair. If you don't get it fixed, it seems like this problem will continue... i.e. Having to dye your hair a darker color everytime.

I would go to a stylist like the others said, but also look into a toner in the meantime.

I accidentally did this to my hair in high school, except it was my entire head! It was terrible and just like Mandy K. said it was because I had put an "ash brown" onto my bleach blonde hair and the outcome was a dark seaweed color. Unfortunately for me, I had damaged my hair so much by bleaching it and keeping up with my roots that by the time I accidentally turned it green it was so porous that it wouldn't hold any color. So no matter how much my stylist colored it dark, the green always peeked through. Eventually I decided to just cut it really short but to make matters worse my stylist had to take me all the down to an almost black color to hide the green. Anyway, I got so freaked over that experience that I haven't dyed my hair since...but I'm sure mine was a worse scenario. Good luck!!! :)

Like mandy said, when you go blonde you actually strip all the pigments out of your hair. Now that you want to go back to your normal color, try picking a color that has a reddish tint to it. By adding some red to your hair, it will cancel out the greenish tint your hair has now. I hope this helps :)

Side note: it's called a filler when they put pigment back into your hair after bleaching if you want to go dark.

If you want to counteract the green in your hair you need to neutralize it with a red toner. This will not turn your hair red if done properly: it will just tone the green tint out.
