So about half a year ago, I bought a bright coral lipstick and I was really really happy with it until I put it on and realised it made my skin look really ashy. Is there a golden rule out there that it has something to with cool toned skin? Would it have the same result if I go for like a lighter, peachier colour like Cut a Caper by MAC? I love these colours and think they are so pretty when I see other people wearing it.. it's such a shame I can't! :( Any ideas?
Coral & peach tones are my favourite lip shades. I've seen them work across the board, but I think (as with most colours) it's a matter of finding a shade/undertone that flatters you. Coral can run very pink or very peach or very orange depending on the formulation.. so it will definitely depend on what shade of coral you're working with.
Yu A. I HAVE to suggest Nyx's Black Label Lipstick in Volcano or Raven. The colors may be deceiving, but it's definitely worth the shot with the prices that they offer.
If you're looking at MAC lippies.. you might want to have a look at See Sheer (subtle, deeper coral), Ravishing (peachy coral), Cut A Caper (LE holiday) along with Vegas Volt.
Great recommendation Diana, it's one of my favs. :]
I'm cool-toned as well and I find I can wear coral and peach as long as they lean towards pink. Anything that leans more toward orange I just can't pull off. No colors are off limits, I just have to find a shade that leans more one way than the other to be happy with it.

I'd love to, but the UK doesn't sell NYX! I was considering ordering them online, so I will look into those colours :) Thanks for the advice!
