I'm getting married July 1st, 2011 and my hair is about 3 inches pass my shoulders. I want my hair to be all down for my wedding and in curls, and was wondering what products could I use to get long healthy hair before the wedding?! Thanks :)
I just chopped all my hair off, I hate dealing with so much hair! But! That being said, I spent the majority of my life with hair down to my butt--
Sulfate-free shampoos are a must--a lot of companies are wising up to the sulfate-free thing, so they're not so hard to find now. But sulfates are harsh detergents that can weaken your hair. Since I've stopped using sulfates, I've noticed way less breakage and much stronger hair!
Additionally, stop heat styling! A blow drier is fine, whatever, but try to cut down on heat where you can. If you consider this a temporary thing until you reach your desired length, it's perfectly doable. A friend of mine stopped flat-ironing her hair regularly and it was amazing what strong, healthy growth she experienced!
Chemically processing your hair in any way can damage it and hinder healthy growth, but I totally understand not being able to go without colour...there are some good natural alternatives for darkening hair colour, but lightening is trickier. Can be done, but I can't personally vouch for it.
Sounds like I'm some hippie nature-freak, I'm really not! Just when it comes to growing out hair--my hair always grew best when I let it do it's own thing. My sister (who has fairly long hair now, even longer a while ago) swears by vitamin supplements, so there's that route too.
I really love Tresemme shampoo's and conditioners! They really leave my hair nice and healthy! You can also try body shop hair products! Also cut your hair every 3 months or so! I noticed that my hair grows really fast once I cut out like 1in and also cut my split ends! Also what keeps my hair long is not using too much heat and protecting my hair from heat! And to style my hair totally recommend Paul Mitchell's Serum it's in a long bottle with lime green...hope that helps...check out my vids on how i style my hair http://www.youtube.com/user/sweetsu...
I find just eating enough protein, using conditioners and leaving them on for 5-10 min...such as Copolla's Keratin Conditioner, Tigi Color Care Conditioner, Blonde Bombshell Conditoner, and Chi Leave in Conditioner Spray, and Moroccan Oil works great. I use a combination of these and my hair has alot more moisture. Also putting Potion Number 9 (not sure the brand) on the ends after a shower works good as well!

Try a hair conditioning oil, like the one from John Masters Organics

I have curly hair that grows quickly (great but it gets so frizzy!) and I found that using Garnier works to stop breakage whenever I have my hair naturally curly. Here is a video I did with the results aswell.
