Hey everyone! I'm quite new to filming tutorials and such! I always try but they never work out how I would like. Do you have any advice on lighting/angles/cameras etc? Or tips I might not even know about haha! I'm not very camera savvy so any advice would be much appreciated! You all make such great videos on here, I'm jealous! ;)
I hear ya Shaylee, my issue is that I'm camera shy. I find that when I'm talking I tend to look away from the camera or do really annoying eye tricks that just makes me look bored or like I don't feel like doing it. Any ideas for someone who can't sit still or make camera eye contact? lol :)
Check out my channel and see if the video is good quality i think so =) http://www.youtube.com/sweetsusy6
The shyness will go away cuz it is weird to talk to a camera but that goes away with time...For eye contact I always place a mirror in front of me and practice! For lighting I like to use natural lighting...the best is to stand in front of a window...and camera angles it depends..try experimenting...and for cameras I have a Canon SD 1400 which has HD video!
When I first started posting videos, I didn't talk. I had subtitles while I demonstrated. After a while, I loosened up a bit. I just think that I'm talking to my friends, sisters or cousins while I'm filming. That might help you not be camera shy!
Check your lighting!! A lot of my videos were filmed at night, but some were filmed during the day. I filmed right in front of my computer, b/c that's where I could get the best lighting. At night, I still filmed in front of the computer, only because everyone else was asleep! HA, but I had "daytime" bulbs. IDK where my family got them, but it made it look like I filmed in the day.
Make sure you have a camera that has good quality. When your subscribers can see what you're doing on camera clearly, they can reciprocate the look easier.
Show your personality. Don't act fake, it is better to just be yourself and people will like you for who you really are.
Come up with your own looks. That way, it will set you apart from the many other gurus on YouTube.
Most of all... HAVE FUN! :]
