I had a HUGE pimple on my forehead. At first it was a bullae, and then the white head finally came out yesterday. It was like a tumor on my head. HORRIBLE. I popped it yesterday, and yes I did pop it right. I drained it until it ran clear. I still have a little bit of a bump under the scab so I guess it's not 100% yet. The reason I am writing on here is b/c I look horrible right now. Is there anyway to get the redness to clear up? I refuse to leave my house until this is better.

The redness is an inflammation as you know and since it's an open sore I really don't recommend putting anything on it other than a topical antibiotic like Neosporine. HOWEVER, at your own risk, to reduce the redness you could use Visine or some other eye drops since some people have luck using that. Apply the eye drops using either a cotton swab or cotton ball but don't use your fingers. You could also try Baby Anbesol since it's a gel meant to help relieve swelling on babies gums or Anbesol for Cold Sores. Again, all at your own risk since it's an open sore and anything on it can lead to a minor infection which can lead to scaring.

The other thing you could do is apply a frozen (disinfected) quarter to the spot. I know some people recommend spoons but that's just so eww since you use the spoon to eat. Wash and then disinfected the quarter before placing in the freezer. Allow to get very cold then apply it to the spot with a tissue or very thin cloth between your skin and the frozen quarter. This should help with any swelling.

Thanks for the info. I actually forgot about Visine. I never tried it before but I have heard about it. I am going to look into all these ideas in the next few hours when I am getting ready for the day.

Clean and Clear sells a product specifically for a popped pimple (Popped Pimple Relief drying gel and gel pen). Maybe that will help too.

Eyedrops (like Visine) shrink blood vessels (that's why it takes the red out of your eyes). I've used a drops on a pimple before- although I'm not a doc and that is definitely NOT the recommended use.. Hydrogen peroxide will also react with the enzymes in your blood and often turns the affected are white instead of red. Again, not a doc but I've tried and had success with both of these methods.

And hey, it's just a zit... We all get them- don't be embarassed, it's only natural! Chances are you're the only one that's really thinking about it anyways.

Thanks Angela. It is much better today. I decided not to do anything this weekend b/c I didnt want to put makeup on it... and it was too red to just let it hang out there. I need to go to work... so I will be covering it today. I did try the Visine and it does work a little.

@Maria... I didnt want to have to buy anything. I am being super careful with my money these days. I rarely ever get pimples like this... if any at all. That is why I freaked out a little. But... if I get another like this soon, I will go check that out. Thanks doll.

i usually treat acne with a little hydrocortisone cream to shrink the inflammation but I am under the care of a dermatologist and he tells me this is okay every once in a while. i'm on prescribed meds for my skin (finacea, and clindagel) so I use those for the pimple and it goes away. you can try a sulfur mask (acne free sells it) as well.
I would just recommend keeping it clean and put some concealer over it (glamoflauge is great) so that you can leave the house and feel confident.

Ooh love the tip about the quarter Yasmin!

if you're gonna put concealer or foundation over it, make sure to use an acne treatment under it! it'll help treat the pimple and prevent the makeup from getting under it, making it worse. :]

Hi!
I am a Esthetician, ice it for 5 min. Cover wrap ice with a washcloth or paper towel. Spot treat with Clean & Clear Persa Gel 10 ( contains 10% benzoyl peroxide). If you have any questions email me ladyjskincare@yahoo.com or visit my blog ladyjskincare.blogspot.com

While I agree with Jena O. that ice is helpful because cold constricts blood vessels (which will reduce swelling as well as associated redness) it is not antibacterial, as it's just frozen water. In order for ice to be antibacterial and actualy kill the little offenders (which is very rare- usually the bacteria is simply frozen in it's current growth state) you would have to leave it on your face for a VERY long time- not a good idea. You can actually "burn" your skin by leaving ice on for too long. Half an hour is all you need to start damaging cells. Just wanted to add that so no one out there ends up damaging their skin even further with this technique!
