I just tried the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips but I'm having a tough time keeping the corners stuck on the free edge of my nails. Does this happen to anyone else? Any tips to help keep the corners in place? {FYI: I'm wearing the glitter polish strips}
I have used Sally Hansen's Salon Effects about five times now, you can see those posts at my blog http://prettymaking.blogspot.com -- when I apply it, I will bring it back just to the cuticle, lay it down straight on the nail bed to adhere the back, and then pull it taut out to the edge of the nail and then pull downward. Instead of tearing it I will use the emery board included, file slightly at the nail edge, and then tear it. For the extra strip on the edges I use the orangewood stick to separate from the nail/skin.
I know sometimes reading is harder than actually seeing. Would it be beneficial if I made a video on my Youtube channel on how I apply them??
Mandy, have you tried the glitter ones? They are so scratchy and the glitter particles lift on their own :/ i'll definitely try the ones with different prints, but the glitter ones chipped so easily and its only day 2! I have a post on it on my blogspot http://lifewithlisblog.blogspot.com...
I followed the instructions that it came with, but maybe its just the glitter ones that do this. I can't wait to try out the other ones!
I've noticed that with the Sally Hansen nail strips different designs adhere to your nails differently. I tried the lace ones and hated them. They were thick and started lifting at the tips on the second day. Then I tried the Misbehaved (fishnet with gold background). These were alot thinner and stayed on for two weeks. Even when I removed them they were still in perfect condition
I recently bought two packages of these while I was in the drugstore to compare with Broadway Nails' Nail Dress Stick On Wraps, and I really like the Sally Hansen ones.
I think each of the wraps go on differently like Iesha said, I really like 240 Check It Out which is the Houndstooth pattern since it's really thin but I found that some of them started chipping at the tip since they didn't stick on after only having them on for a few minutes! I'd apply a topcoat on the tip of the nails just in case.
Also to keep the corners in place, maybe try a smaller size? If it starts to 'wing out' it may be because it's too long and is sticking to the skin instead of the nail.
@ Lisette -- I have tried the glitter ones, the blue and the pink. I follow my usual procedure as I do with all nails and I always do a top coat after applying, such as my Seche Vite top coat.
With that I can get at least one week of wear time from most of them before I see any wear-and-tear.
The glitters chipped easier than the non-glitter designs, and would lift easier, not sure in the difference but usually one nail would chip slightly within 3 days. But for the most part I still got about a week out of them before I decided I needed to change it up.
The glitter was about as easy as to remove as the others. You just have to let it soak a bit under some remover.

And because i cut then in half I had some dried one I save when I took off the paper baking and clear film on the top, I could use them for my accent nail by applying the dried nail polish strip over clear nail polish while it was still wet, I held it down and applied a clear top coat and it looked great

I haven't tried them yet but if they peel up enough you might try putting a clear polish underneath them and a clear coat on top.

Maybe you could try a layer of clear polish over the strips to adhere the glitter better?

It helped me out a lot when i buffed my nails smooth first and wiped my nails down with nail polish remover to get rid of excess oil...
