138 is a MUST-HAVE tapered face brush that can be used for contouring, blush and all over powder.
I also have an extensive break-down of my "MUST-HAVE" brushes from MAC, including a thorough explanation of what shapes are important to purchase, types of hair brushes, and differences between machine cut, hand cut and uncut virgin hair brushes.
I think that MAC brushes are TOTALLY worth the price. They make such a difference to application of products and last such a long time IMO. I own close to 30 MAC brushes, and I haven't had any problems with a single one. (This isn't to brag, but just to show that I feel they are worth the money). If you start slow you can build up?
The first brushes I bought were the 239, 222 and 187 and I love them =)
MAC brushes are a little pricey but your paying for the quality! their brushes are very soft and they last forever if you take good care of them. cleaning them when they are suppose to be cleaned and storing them correctly, they should last you forever.
my fave brushes are the 217, 130, 224, and 109, those are my go to brushes always! i have multiple of them just in case i forget to clean one. lol

So far I own just one: the 217. So worth it, though, IMO.

I would say the 168 brush is great for contouring. I have it and the brush also works well for blush. It's amazing!
