I saw today on dr oz that all makeup for skin is the same that there not skin healing or clear complexion its all the same its just for marketing so I'm I wasting money buying the kind that's says it helps clear skin scuh as neutrogena and almay.

How, if it has acne fighting medicinal properties...? Like salicylic acid? I am by no means any more informed than the average girl, except the fact that I've been fighting acne since 7th grade, but I'm pretty sure not all foundations contain that stuff. And I know that most foundations make me break out like crazy whereas Neutrogena's skin clearing line doesn't, and in fact it keeps me clear even when I accidentally fall asleep without washing my face (late movie nights on the couch :D). I don't agree with Dr. Oz at all!! I don't know why he would say that!

Oh and I also don't watch his show so I have NO CLUE what he actually claimed.

It's about ingredients. Some things are bad for your skin and others aren't, but its all about that's in it. It's like hair products. You have a lot of products that claim to be healthy and moisturizing but the first 5 ingredients are petroleum and alcohol and water is no where in sight. You've have to know what to look for and what to be weary of and choose your makeup off of that to determine what's going to help and harm you.

I can tell that foundations are different. Most look like shit, some look good. Most make me break out, some don't.
What I have noticed is that the behavior of the makeup is completely unrelated to what the bottle says. It may or may not be dewey/matte/nonbreakout/noncakey/shine free, but that seems to have nothing to do with what's written on the bottle. /rant/

I only pay attention to the ingredients. And if I like what I see THEN I check out the claims. I never operate the other way around. Bottom line is to be an educated consumer. You cannot believe everything that comes out by the manufacturer. Take for example that Clarins serum that all the beauty bloggers were raving about awhile back ago. That $80 buck serum contained mineral oil. And there was nothing earth shattering about the rest of the ingredients but for just about the same amount of money and better ingredients that produce results one could pick up the Sunday Riley Juno Serum. I have family members in the cosmetic/skincare industry so I get the scoop daily. If there is any product that claims the world and then some get prepared to do some studying.
