Hey guys! So I have been struggling for a while with "Cakey" foundation!:( I have dry skin and so it clusters up on those dry spots.. Moisturizer helps a little bit but the rest of my face still looks like I have too much on even though I barely apply any. Does anyone have any good suggestions? I currently wear Ultas Fabulous Face Foundation..

Sometimes moisturising your face while it's slightly damp helps before putting on the foundation, then after a few minutes of applying use a spray on moisturising/refreshing solution (there are loads out there to choose) and lightly most your face, then you should be good to go, it would also help your foundation look more "natural"

Simply using a tinted moisturizer would probably solve the problem watch grav3yardgirl's video five minute flawless makeup for acne prone skin.

Try using a flat top kabuki blending in downward strokes.

Try applying with a damp sponge such as a beauty blender. I've been doing that recently and my foundation has never looked so "skin-like" haha.

I had the same Problem in The beginning The best Solution is To use Prime on your Face before applying Foundation , then Apply your Foundation using A foundation Brush... Sponges soak up Too much Foundation and Fingers leave Streaks :)

Try using a bb cream or tinted moisturizer instead of a heavy foundation. If you prefer the foundation then maybe you can add some moisturizer to it on your hand before application. Sometimes applying it before your makeup causes the color to cake. And with dry skin, the less powder the better. Powder makes dry skin more visible, I know from experience

I've dealt with a lot of clients with dry skin, moisturize! And let it absorb for ATLEAST 5 minutes. Prime your face as tht will create an even canvas for foundation to adhere to. I like to use the benefit poreless primer. And try opting for a moisturizing foundation or creamier foundations. Stick with oil based foundations rather than water based. A good one is the Revlon color stay for dry. If you can dish out money for a department brand la mer the treatment foundation is amazing and packed with moisturizing benefits. Or the creme smoothe one. I would apply it with a brush; dense flat top so your foundation is being pushed into the skin rather than buffing and moving dry flakes around. Makeup sponges are great too, just wet them and squeeze excess water out(this is to make sure the sponge doesn't waste your product as much) skip the powder. As for your skin regiment, cleanse with a creamy cleanser, not foamy. Exfoliating will be your bestfriend and moisturizing! Sorry it was lengthy. Hope this helped.

Oops, as for the brush or sponge I forgot to say stipple/press the foundation on.

Sometimes cheaper foundations arent the best. You should really invest in a higher end foundation.. I know what your thinking but REALLY, the different is noticeable. I've used lots of lower end foundations, and none of them work as amazing and my estee lauder one. I use the double wear foundation in shade intensity 1. Its amazing! I have combination skin and it works amazing on the dry and oily parts of my face:)
