Blend...you can tell exactly where one color ends and the other begins but its harsh...you should try and make the colors blend from one to the other seemlessly! It also looks like the foundation isn't matched to her skin tone...the foundation looks too dark/warm...I think the colors you chose for the eyeshadow are nice though...

Thanks so much for the input! her foundation is darker because she was going to be applying tan later :) I tried blending but it wouldn't really work for me, I used the Mac 217 brush which was recommended at my tutor, should I try a different one?

Again, I would agree with the blending and to make the eye appear more defined, line the inner corner with a shimmery white eyeshadow.

I usually apply my base/lid color, then apply my crease or outer corner color and then take a little more of the base color and tap it right where the two colors meet...this will help make the two colors meet more subtle...It's hard to explain when not in person...agree with samantha on a lighter color in the inner corner...her eyes look deep set so this will really bring them out and also a lighter shade on the lower lashline from inner corner to the middle

When blending dark colors in the crease, use only a tiny amount and a light hand. :)

I agree with Anmol. Always start with very little product and build it up. If you start with too much it's harder to blend.

Welcome to the life of a MUA!! my suggestions are as follows: fill in brows, the key to any look whether its foundation , eye shadow, etc, you must blend. Having the brush that works for you is very essential. Add some blush, even contour, and add more to the lips. overall, I think you did a good job. Remember, experts were once beginners!!

I used the 217 on her eyes, I used a foundation brush for foundation. lighter colors weren't really an option because that's the look and colours we were told to use by our tutor for a smoky eye. Her foundation is that colour because she was going to be applying tan later, I matched her foundation to her tan before and that shade works perfect. thanks for the input.

Apologies Jacqueline, I wasn't snapping at all, its very hard to convey tone and emotions over a message :) I do appreciate the input and as I said apologies if you felt snapped at I didn't mean to come across that way.
