So I'm debating between a couple schools and one is a more Mom and Pop/ family owned type beauty school and the others are both huge brand name's, Redken and Paul Mitchell; all the schools basically offer the exact same thing. I am just wondering in the actual industry, how important is it that you graduate from a "Brand" school? Does the name make much of a difference in getting jobs, etc? also, there is a 95% chance I could be moving not long after I actually am moving on to the floor in school, would it be best to wait and start ar my new location or just transfer?? sorry this was so.long!

For me I would love that my makeup artist or hairstylist graduated from known and brand school its a matter of trust on your guality work though and definitely you get better reputation and customer loyalty plus more jobs opportunity. thats my opinion but it's still your choice follow your heart and where you feel more comfortable and creative. :)

Paul Mitchells state board passing rate is low... but their advanced color classes are amazing. I had to make this very same decision in 2010. I chose the smaller school only because they offered on and off site advanced hair color and cutting classes with salon professionals in LA and Orange county... then after graduating I went took up extra classes through multiple companies like redken, cosmoprof, ect. look at graduation rates, reviews, and when you tour the school, ask students! they'll know first hand and let you what they think. :) see if they offer an externship program... and help with job placement. my school did! and its such a great amount of help! :)

And a brand name doesn't make you a more trusted sylist... its all about your confidence and portfolio!
my school also provided a professional photographer once a month, FREE of charge to the students to build their portfolio as early as 400 hours into your program.
the truth of it is though, its 20% of what you know, 80% of who you are. you sell you. so just be confident in your decision, be confident in your work, and itll show! good luck sista!! :)

Paul Mitchell is a good name to have though.

Paul mitchell actually has a very high passing rate for state boards... We had a 99% passing rate at my school so I don't think you should say that about the name paul mitchell in general. I passed state boards with a 97% & my school made sure we knew what we were doing before we graduate.

I'm currently at the salon professional academy (TSPA) for short it's the REDKEN school and I have 1 month left and I personally recommend you go to a name brand school people like it when you go to a name brand school and it does offer a lot of good job opportunities as well because those school hold you to a higher standing then the not name brand ones I suggest you go to a TSPA school REDKEN is an awesome color line to learn :) plus they just came out with a new color line and they always come out with new styling products quickly :D.
