Difference between Mac C# & C##

I am trying to find the most perfect shade for myself in mac and I saw there are shades that have a C and only one number ex C3 or C3.5 but there are also ones that have a C & a double digit number as in C30 or C35... What is the difference between these shades I know C shades are a in between NC & NW but what's up with either single or double digits after the C?? From looking at my picture what shade would you suggest?? I've always worn like an NC35 but I've been told its too yellow/orangey for me which I agree to a degree but I can't seem to get my shade down perfectly...
