I just got my braces off and you get used to the way they look! I was actually pretty self conscious about not having them for a little while! (That didn't last long haha)
I learned that the more you try to make your braces look good the worse they look! The key is to be confident I have just plain normal silver braces and I've learned to just embrace them.
I actually don't recommend red lipstick. I wore braces and I love red lepstick but only wore nude lip gloss for that time. I think the trick is to make your eyes glam and keep your lips plain.
You shouldnt be self conscious about them, just work them girl! :) Its funny how here in our country teens will go to the dentist to have braces just because thy show them around, thy get thm even if thy have good teeth. They wear em like some fashion accesory. lol.

I think red lipstick will also only draw attention to the braces. Have you thought about drawing attention to your eyes or other facial features.
