I purchased both of the palettes after months of longing, and was quite disappointed when I put the colour on. The shadows look like dirt on my face, or they don't blend well. :(
Does anyone have any advice? Is it the brushes I'm using? Do I require more experience with makeup? I really want to lie these palettes!
I'd visit your local UD counter and ask the artist to help you put them on. Maybe a little application tutorial on YouTube if there's not an Urban Decay counter at your mall? I'm sure you can make them work!
Why didn't I think of that earlier? I was just at Sephora and it's a bit of a drive so I don't go there very often. Argh! I'll check out some more tutorials on YT.
Maybe your using too much primer cuz when you use too much it has the opposite affect of what its supposed to do. Or Maybe ur putting too much eyeshadow on at once and its making it harder to blend, try putting a small amount on your brush first then slowly building it to your likings. Also maybe try using ur fingers, hope this helps and good luck
No worries, I have the same problem also. I find the colors to be way to cool for my complexion and very flacky. So instead i thew both of them in the bottom of a make up case and got the
Kat Von D True Romance Palette in Saint.
Try looking up some tutorials on youtube on using the Naked and Naked 2 palette. There are a lot of good tutorials on there. When it comes down to it, it's all about using the right colors. Try using a lighter shade like "Foxy" from naked 2 and then "Smog" in the crease or something. You always want the lighter shade on the lid and a darker color in the crease. You just have to play around with the colors a little. You may also be using too much eyeshadow, which causes it to look a bit like dirt.

I have warm undertones so the Naked palette should suit me fine, but I actually find myself going for the Naked 2 more often because I can create better colour combinations with that palette.
As for my brushes, they're just cheapies I purchased for a low price because I have no idea what brush brand is worth splurging on. If someone could make some recommendations on that as well, I'd really appreciate it!
I tried using less at a time and it did seen to remedy the issue a bit, but there are still some splotchy parts, particularly with the darker, shimmery colours. I have a feeling that the brushes might be the culprit because they tend to scrape the pan and cause a lot of fallout, even though I'm dabbing the brush lightly onto the shadows.
Sometimes when I try to get shadow with a brush, the shadow has a little bit of fall out too!
I can almost guarantee you that it's the brushes you're using. Brushes are SO important to makeup, and without them your makeup will look crap no matter how nice it is. I recommend MAC brushes, as most of them are very good. Sephora's professional brushes are also very nice! Sephora also sells brush sets, so you can test them out if you'd like! If you're on a budget, I would get a regular shadow brush like the MAC 239 and a crease brush like MAC 217. Those two eye brushes can pretty much do it all. I also recommend Real Technique brushes, they're very inexpensive and oh so amazing!
Urban Decay's shadows are often prone to fallout, even if you use good brushes and have good application techniques. (I did a look with the Naked 2 palette a few days ago; had some serious fall-out, and I use high-quality brushes.)
You have several options...
* Do your eyeshadow before you apply foundation or concealer. Then you can clean it up with makeup remover.
* Hold a tissue underneath your eye to catch fallout.
* Use Shadow Shields to catch fallout.
* Press lots of loose powder under your eye to catch it; you can sweep it away afterwards.
make sure you start with a clean, moisturized face/lids. Use a good primer, such as Urban Decay primer potion, use a good eyeshadow brush & when dipping your brushes to get eyeshadow, dip lightly so you don't pick up too much color. Top off the excess then apply on your lids. You should watch YouTube videos on these palettes, all you need is practice. Remember, practice makes perfect :-)
post a picture...then we can see what the problem is and try to guide you that way....I often use my naked palette and I def want to help you be satisfied with it!
I think your brushes are the problem. I have both palettes as well and I pretty much use them every day. Primer helps eyeshadows go one easier but since UD shadows are really nice and pigmented you'd basically just be using them to make the shadows last longer. Try using your fingers. I usually do a combo of both. I only use brushes for things that I can't really do with my fingers like lining the lower and/or upper lashlines. As for recommendations on good brushes you could try Elf brushes (http://www.eyeslipsface.com) or Sigma brushes (http://www.sigmabeauty.com) they have awesome brushes that are way cheaper than both Mac and Sephora brushes. But like I said before brushes aren't completely necessary to do makeup and using like 25 different brushes to do your makeup every morning is plain dumb.
Also I bought the coastal scents 22 piece brush kit and I'm loving it it's perfect for beginners you can buy them off their website they're always having good sales like yesterday all 88 pallets were 8 dollars which is fantastic prices!
Note these arnt going to be your holy grail brushes but since you don't have much experience these are perfect and have every thing you need once you good enough Mac and sigma are AMAZING..

Have you used a primer & base under the shadows?

Yes, every time. It could be a bad combination of colours too as I'm unsure which shades look good together, but the blending is still an issue.

What brushes are you using? If you tell us what you're using, then we can tell you if it's the brushes or not. Brushes can be a factor.

I find the Naked palettes to be too warm for my complexion, or cool undertones. Maybe they're just not right for your coloring?

For brushes I reccomend: elf's studio line, sigma, and mac. I would say really just go in and ask them they really will be able to help you :)
