@Ilana E. - people recommend cutting hair for growth because damaged hair breaks. The only way to get rid of split ends is to cut them off.

Don't wash your hair everyday you can condition it so its soft and smells good, and a little goes along way. For oily hair try using dry shampoo I recommend Redken dry shampoo it's a powder type spray so the powder is going to absorb the oil. As for you loosing hair it's normal for anyone to loose any where from 40-100 strands a day, the longer your hair is your going to notice it more but it's completely normal. To grow your hair out I take prenatal pills, you can take them even if your pregnant they won't harm anything and the make your and nails grow like crazy and makes them even stronger, I also recommend getting your hair trimmed at least every 5-8 weeks

I put coconut oil on my hair for an hour before I wash it. It works amazing and it makes my hair so soft.

Take a prenatal vitamin I have used it for about a year now and I drink lots of water with it. Eating healthy works wonders with hair. I also learned that French braiding your hair tightly after showers helps with growing out.

Take any vitamins.
Don't wash your hair everyday it damages it a lot. I had to learn the hard way but it helps && don't dye your hair a lot either!!! It kills your hair.
At nights braid your hair, I heard that helps tooo

Is it the same Castor oil that they are selling in the medicine store that is being used for hair too?

As weird as this sounds.. Prenatal vitamins are perfect for helping hair grow. Doctor recommended. Also try biotin, or possible just any daily vitamins.

Try a good leave in conditioner and pulling your hair back is sometimes what keeps your hair from growing! Try just leaving it down every once in a while.

Prenatal vitals actually can be taken even if you aren't pregnant. They are great for hair, skin and nails. All of my friends who have had kids never quit taking them and their doctors are fine with it.  :)

Hey

Hello!

Hopefully I am not too late to chime in on this topic but I have done quite a bit of "research" on this topic so I will just give you my input and hopefully this helps.

First, it is important to determine why your hair is not growing. Is it breaking off, falling out, or simply not growing. Once you can determine this, it can help you figure out how to treat it.

1. Take Biotin - It is scientifically proven to assist in the growth of hair and nails. Some multivitamins do contain biotin, but not in a sufficient amount to help with hair growth. Biotin supplements can be purchased at Walmart or any drug store.
2. Breakage - I have been using Pantene Products.. the ones they claim prevent breakage, and surprisingly, they work, really well. I have used all kinds of high end products and honestly, they were not what they were cracked up to be and for the most part, didnt work. I have found pantene to be the only thing thats worked for me and helping me repair my hair.
3. Are you using a curling iron frequently? I used to curl my hair about 3 -4 time a weeks. I have since started to curl my hair using a flat iron instead, and have seen my hair come back to life. Of course, if you can..you should limit the amount of times you style your hair with *any* heat tools...including blow dryers.
4. How often are you shampooing your hair? If its more than 3 times a week this could be causing your hair to dry out and therefore, break. Try using a dry shampoo so you can go a bit longer between washes.
5. DO not comb your hair when it's soaking wet. Let you hair air dry for at least 15 minutes before combing/brushing it. Your hair is sooo delicate when wet, it will easily snap and break if you comb it while its wet!
6. Nourish it with a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. I make my own hair mask using Olive Oil, Avocado and Egg... works great. You can even just put olive oil on your hair for 30 minutes before washing it.. it washes out easier than coconut oil, but nourishes it just as well.

Anyways, hope this helps you :)

If you wear your hair up more, it will grow faster. The hair tie stretches your hair out, and getting a small trim every month, that way you don't have any dead hairs(split ends) they stop hair growth.

1.Eat nutritious foods. 2.Drink 8 glasses of water each day 3.Do deep conditioning treatments 1 time a week(really does help get healthy hair). 4.Trim it(might seem stupid since you're trying to let your hair grow but healthy hair means stronger and prettier hair!) Oh and only do it every 6-9 weeks! 5.Wash your hair every 2 or 3 days unless its dry u can get away with washing it once every week. 6. Dont use a lot of heat tools it just damages hair! 7.Dont do anything to it while wet if you need to untangle it use a wide tooth comb!! Good Luck I'll come back if remember any more advice xD

actually the more you wear your hair up the more chance for breakage. the elastic bends the hair and the constant pressured causes breakage.

Try braiding it instead of putting it up. I heard that braiding your hair helps it grow (:
