Most times I use Monistat Anti-Chaffing Powder Gel as a primer. It's main ingredients are the main ingredients as some high-end primers... like Smashbox, Laura Geller, etc. But for the amount of product you get, it's as much as 5x cheaper!
Yes Monistat is a brand mostly associated with "yeast infections" or problems down there for women. But I swear to you, the anti-chaffing powder gel is wonders as a primer. NOTE: you must ONLY use this particular one!!!
Youtube it and you will see a bunch of users use and rave about it.
As for setting sprays, the only one I tried is E.L.F. It's alright, but I'm really dying to try Urban Decay's DeSlick!!
I've got some setting sprays and have never gotten around to trying them: Once my makeup is done and perfect, I'm hesitant to risk spraying something over my face for fear that if I don't like the texture or effect I'll have to start all over.
Primer is a must to me, especially with the humid summer I'm currently suffering. It's not just about giving your makeup a good base, though. Primer also minimizes pores and smooths out imperfections for a more flawless look.
ABSOLUTELY primers!!! Especially for your eyeshadows. The best i have used so far were Too Faced Shadow Insurance and The Original Urban Decay Primer. For your face i tried countless primers and find the silicone based a little too much for oily skin, the best i have used so far is Sue Devitt Fortifying Primer. Now, at $40 it is a little bit pricey and SOOOOO worth it!! I quote :"This unique microemulsion treatment skin primer deeply hydrates as it infuses energy and vitality into the skin, delivering immediate results. Time-released Soy Proteins detect and neutralize sebum production while light reflective properties act as a natural skin brightener providing radiance and a youthful glow." it doesnt contain silicones :))))) As for setting sprays....hands down Urban Decay All Nighter!!! Didnt break me out, kept make up on all day and felt absolutely refreshing and light :))))
Yes, I think it makes the biggest difference ever. If you find the perfect primer, face and eye, you can use almost any eyeshadow without worrying about creasing and a perfect face primer is golden for a perfect face. I definitley reccomend in investing in a good face primer, like Smashbox Photo Finish. And for me, I have normal eyelids, the 1 dollar ELF eyelid primer works just the same as UDPP. So it's all skin type and personal preference as well. (:
