It's not just the size of the eyeshadows; the e/s formulas between US and UK are also different, to my understanding (which may explain the difference in size, although it could also be down to ingredients).
And then I learned some info elsewhere (I want to say Specktra) about Pro Lumiere and Mat Lumiere outside the US. So I went on some of the international Chanel websites recently (mainly English-language Asia, Australia/NZ, UK, and Canada) to confirm what they said. Here's your rundown...
As you probably know, Pro Lumiere was discontinued in the US just before Perfection Lumiere was launched. Mat Lumiere is still around (however, the previously-lightest shade available here, 02 Porcelain, seems to be gone as well). Pro was also discontinued in Aus/NZ; however, it seems to me Mat is also on the way out (Chanel Aus/NZ website lists only five shades available for purchase; there's also a powder version of Mat). On the Chanel Asia website, Pro is still mostly available, but there are only four shades of Mat (however, Mat is now available there in two powder forms -- regular Mat and Mat Lumiere Extreme). On the UK website, both Pro *and* Mat are no more (Mat is now there in powder form); same on Chanel Canada. Also, Teint Innocence, which used to be available as a liquid foundation, is available in compact form abroad but not in the US. The mind boggles.
IMO, there should be some consistency in regards to products available worldwide. I mean, some products I can understand being exclusive to certain countries (e.g., skin whitening bases available in Asia and Aus), and even certain shades of products being available only in certain places (there are a shade each in Perfection Lumiere and Vitalumiere Aqua that are exclusive to Asia), and I can even tolerate collections being launched at slightly different times, but I don't understand how a company can have a product be one size in one country and another size somewhere else.
