I don't really know the back story to how this whole scandal started but i recently saw lime crime at IMATS this weekend and bought 2 of their lipsticks. I may be a sucker for packaging, and I'm sure I'm not the only one but I was impressed at the lipsticks. Great color pay off, goes on smoothly and I'd totally purchase from them again.
I'm pretty sure we've all heard about the good, the bad, and ugly about them. But knowing what you know, do you still buy their products?
I've been wanting to try their primer because I heard it's amazing (and TFSI is creasing on me), but I'm not sure if I agree on their business ethics. Thoughts?
I still buy them. I don't care about all the drama, if I like the product I'm gonna buy it. I own all the lipsticks except for Styletto. I also have their Carousel Glosses! :)
I've heard their practices have become better since all the controversy and I've personally never had a problem when I've ordered from them (it was only twice). I think their products are good quality and I like that they have interesting shades of lipstick. For me personally, it's more important to know their products are cruelty-free.
Yeah. I don't care about the hooplah around the company. Doesn't effect the products. They're cool, good products with super cute packaging! I like the style. :)
I think people are taking it way too seriously. Just about every big corporation out there has some shady practices that are worse than Lime Crime's. If everyone stops buying from companies for that reason, there won't be much left to buy.
I wasn't around for the bad things surrounding the company....I am a loyal customer now and I love their products. Their customer service has been nothing but amazing to me. They are very active on all social media including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Doe's Blog and a few others. They are active in the beauty community and have contests and giveaways frequently. I also like that most of their products are vegan and all of them cruelty free.
And yes the primer is the best primer I have ever used. My dark smoky eye survived an entire 6 hour outdoor concert in the pouring rain.
I own all of the lipsticks, glosses and a few eye shadows. Nymph is my favorite eye shadow of all time. Their lipsticks are great quality.
If people are going to dislike a company because of someones blog post, and a bunch of drama so be it. That drama is a thing of the past, their business is going very well:)
ugh the thing i can't stand is the argument over good vs. bad customer service... because that's not really the major problem. they don't make their products; it is ALL repackaging. lime crime basically takes wholesale products and puts them in cute tubes. yes, it is SUPER adorable but... they don't even make their products!!!
I would agree with Terra; there's no real proof that any of their products have been repackaged other than some very biased blog posts. I've seen them again and again and I personally don't see exact product matches in the swatches. And I've never seen anything about repackaging for anything but the eyeshadows.
Everyone will make their own opinion and I like the Lime Crime I've tried.
Rachel: As far as most researching people have concluded - only the loose eyeshadows from years ago were repackaged (they're discontinuing the whole line right now). Their new products definitely aren't.
But if you have other thoughts I'd love to hear it!
So, I'm well aware of the problems with Doe and that her original Magic Dust were TKB Trading products. I was even against their products for years and hesitant to spend my money on her products. She has since grown and the product line has become really nice. I bought her latest palette over the weekend along with two lipsticks, a lipgloss and an eyeliner and honestly I love the products I bought and will buy from her again. We all make mistakes when we're younger, we learn from those mistakes and we grow from them. I would say try the products if you get a chance and make your final judgement on her products then.
well i agree that a brand has a chance to reinvent itself (as do people), and in that case i will spend time looking at their newer products. unfortunately, that's received much less attention and based on previous actions, i would have no interest in anything related to the brand. good to know!

I have a carrousel gloss and a lipstick but I don't like them too much. Too messy and no staying power.

^I was speaking on the brand as a whole. That is a pretty bold claim to make about them..And pretty silly to spread around.

Yeah when I saw they were discontinuing I was pretty surprised. But they mentioned how the palettes are just way easier to deal with now.
