I've always been a lover of red hair and usually use semi-permanent hair dye to achieve that oh so lovely red. I'm ready to commit to long term color and really think henna is a good option because of what I read about its effects on hair health as well as its nice color. However, I have no experience with henna. Any feed back on henna brands or types (like blocks of henna or pre-bottled) or tips on how to apply to hair or maintain color would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance ladies!
Go to HennaForHair.com. Great website, great products. There is also a forum. I would suggest you prepare your henna with lemon chamoile tea. Don't make it too runny (messy), don't make too thick (hard to rinse out). Buy plastic gloves for application and rinsing. My experience with it is that it itched my scalp during the first week. I wash my hair weekly, so if you wash daily, that may not be a problem. It does fade, but doesn't go away completely. Buy a cheap towel or use a towel you don't care about. The henna will stain it and it will be a long time before it washes out.

Not sure about Henna types, BUT just make sure you REALLY want the red hair. You cannot bleach out henna or color over it without a lot of damage.
