Does anyone have any tips on how to get my eyeshadow to stay on and my eyeliner not to run? I have normal skin but my eyelids seem to get oily, especially as the day progresses. This causes my eye makeup to literally run down my face! Help!
Hello Karen,
Many women have this problem, no worries. I am a makeup artist and can help. Cream eyeshadow bases work the best with oily lids. They have multiple fun or earth tone colors. You can use the cream eyeshadow bases alone since they do give off color or you can use it as a base for other eyeshadow's to lay on top of. As for your eyeliner, make sure it is water resistant. It will say on the box. If this doesn't work waterproof eyeliner is another suggestion. One last tip (IF) the cream eyeshadow bases doesn't work. I use liquid waterproof eyeliner as an eye shadow. You must work fast using a fluffy brush to apply so that is looks well blended. You can get a great water proof eyeliner at MAC Cosmetics. The product is called Liquid Last. Take care!
I have this problem and my eyeliner used to get into the crease of my eyelids too in addition to my eyeshadows just not sticking around.
First, I like to use MAC's paint in bare canvas or their paint pot in painterly. That will work as a great primer that will keep everything on. Also, using a little bit of water on your brush as you apply a power shadow will increase the pigment deposit and help it stay on longer.
Second, I am obsessed with Wet n Wild's black liquid liner- not the water proof one. I have tried so many different and super expensive liners and this one won't EVER budge on my oily lids and it's super cheap.
I have very oily eyelids also! And if i use the mac paintpots alone it creases on me! So i use the nars smudge proof eyeshadow base! Its pretty pricey but so worth it! I prime my lids with that and then i put a mac paint pot over it! And for my eyeliners to not smear i put a matte black eyeshadow over it and it stays in place all day! A good color is macs carbon! Hope this helps
I have super oily eyelids too and what i used that really worked great for me was an eyeshadow primer. i used an urban decay primer and also too faced primer too.
