What Age is Good for Makeup?

I started wearing makeup at 13, and my mom was the one that put eyeliner on me. Eyeliner, eyeshadow and mascara was all i wore til i turned 16, then began the whole face thing. As long as your past elementary it should be fine, or puberty lol

BTW - in the last issue of Makeup Artist Magazine was an article about an 11-year-old boy who does special effects makeup. So is 11 too young? The answer is no.

Try to keep the colors very neautral I just got out of middle school and in still going to use neutrals in high school

To any and everyone that said makeup makes you look older, it really doesn't that much. If you are like Sarai, the youtuber KrazyRayRay, then you might want to wear makeup. She is 15 and looks 12. It apprpiate for her to wear makeup. Especially if you want to look a bit older if you look way younger than your age. So, Kira, that amount of makeup is okay afterall, you look beautiful as far as I can see on your profile. Just keep it up!!

if you are old enough to shave your armpits:p i was about 14 when i started wearing mascara. kids start wearing make-up and acting 'like adults' earlier and earlier. (too young in my opinion) i wish i was still a kid! enjoy it while you can. But i think if you réally want to start wearing make-up and your parents are okay with it you should, always do what you are comfortable with. No matter what someone elses opinion is (like mine ;p) maybe some mascara and lipgloss? don't go overrboard right away^^

I hate to put an age on it. There shouldn't be an age to start, because everyone is different and has different circumstances. I have two young neighbor girls who look up to me a lot, they are 6 and 8. They always ask me to put makeup on them and I say, only if you parents allow it. So with permission, I applied a light wash of sparkly pinks and purples on their eyes, a touch of mascara and a light shimmery blush and they still looked as beautiful as before. It wasn't about covering up anything, it was about enhancing what they had, and adding colors that express their personalities. I told them that less is more, and makeup is fun and nothing to feel guilty about wearing and being curious of.

A good age would be I feel when you start to and or allowed to arch your eyebrows...but preferably 16-18. Also depends on what particular look your trying to go for, what do you want to focus on, because what you think you need you or how much you feel you need may not be necessary.

that depends on yr parents and how the youngster feels. To be honest if YOU are trying to convince your parents to allow it I wuldnt start by painteing my face like a clown. Go slow, like with tinted lip gloss, and mascara. Then after a few months or years upgrade to some eye liner and some ONCE IN A WHILE NOT EVERY DAY lips tick and eye liner. You dont start off by runing, you first crawl and then walk, then you run. Also rember, LESS IS MORE. You dont need a tub of make up on your face to be beautyfull. Make up is soposed to ENHANCE your NATURAL beauty. Not cover it up.

Age wise, that depends. I did a bit of eye liner, mascara and light lipstick when I went to my first formal dance. I was 14. and this was allowd because I didnt wanna look like I put on a bunch of war paint.

I think the best kind of makeup for middle schoolers is the minimal kind. Unless you have a serious skin problem, you only need concealer. I wouldn't go all out. Don't forget you will have gym class. Nobody looks good in drippy makeup :). Just stick to the basics like mascara (brown black-not straight up fake looking lashes) and lipgloss. Just enjoy being young and experimenting on the weekends. Oh, and try getting started with SPF moisturizer.

I started playing in makeup in 4th grade.
I think it's fine to wear makeup whenever or
wherever you want just so long as you LOVE
doing it. Dont feel pressured into putting it on
or put it on to please others.

Kira, I'm 15 and began wear makeup when I was about your age. I was only allowed to use foundation and minimal eye makeup at first. After my mon gave me tips, I was set free in the drugstore. If you are only wear the basics at 11, I'm sure you'll be fine. Don't let makeup be your hiding place because you are beautiful. If you began to cover up your face more, the more blemishes you will have. Always moisturize, and wash it all off before you sleep. Try to keep it neutral at school, I remember my middle school didn't appreciate us girls huddling over 1 stick of eyeliner during break. As long as you know what you are doing, I'm sure you are not too young.

I started out with just powder and chap stick when I was 13. I'll use a lip gloss instead for special occasions like weddings but I started using make up regularly when I was 17. Even then, it wasn't much like powder, concealer, eyeliner and gloss. Its only now (I'm 18) when I started to use blusher and foundation etc. I don't use it everyday though. Best to go bare, really. Give your skin a break!

I started wearing eyeshadow when I was 11. I'm 13 now and just starting to get into foundation and concealer. I personally think you don't need to wear makeup younger then 10. My sister watches toddlers and tiaras and all the makeup they put on the kids disgusted me so I don't think it's for kids (unless we're talking dress up of course).
