Hey Livvy, I'd go for staples to start with and then branch out in more adventourous colours etc. A lipstick, eyeshadow or blush are a good start they are really pigmented and last for ages ! Here's my recommendations,
Lipsticks - Ethier Angel or Hue,
Eyeshadows - All that Glitters, Brule, Dazzlelight
Blush - Dame, Buff or Well Dressed
Hope that helps, enjoy your mac trip!
"Best" is subjective and what I tell people who ask me to recommend them products is first to find out what that person likes. So what do YOU like?
I had the pleasure of talking to Keri B (a MAC Pro Artist) at IMATS and she showed me their latest lip and eye shadow palette. That's right folks they're releasing two gorgeous palettes (you can see the two palettes on the MAC Pro site http://www.maccosmetics.com/macpro/...
What is it that you like and you don't like? Are you looking for foundation? Mascara? Eyeliners? Lipliners? Lip gloss? Lipstick? Eyeshadows?
MAC is known for their variety of colors and products. I would recommend to book an appointment if your already going to shop for products. Explain to the artist what type of colors/look your going for. That way you can try the products out before purchasing.
MAC's shadows are vibrant, studio fix powder or fluid is one of the top selling foundations.
If you like gel liner's, I'd recommend Fluidline in Blacktrack. It's my favorite. Also, their lipsticks are truly amazing, and I love the mineralize skin finish.
Stick to their lipsticks and eyeshadows. Their brushes are awesome but very pricy and you can definitely find good equivilants for much less. Their nailpolish is cool but too pricy for the quality. I also like their pencils, but again you can find dupes for much cheaper. So, yeah. Lipsticks and eyeshadows, GO! :)
