I know there have been a few articles on how to clean brushes but I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on what shampoos or cleansers to use. A spray between washes would be great! Thanks guys!
I'm using soap (dishes) & olive oil that's the best, when I don't have the time for exemple, i'm in a shoot, I use the mac brush cleaner... a little bit pricy but work really good ;)
I'm doing the exact same thing as Dorothee! I'm using Dawn antibacterial with some extra virgin olive oil to keep the bristles moisturize so they wont be dried out and cracky. I'm not puting to much oil like maybe half a tbsp. You can use just soap if you want but make sure it's antibacterial and moisturizing, I'm using the dishes soap and olive oil because it's the less expensive way of cleaning them.
Hope it help :)
I use the dawn dishsoap with Olay lotion or something like that.. it is super soft and smooth and it works amazingly.. it conditions your brushes bc of the Olay lotion or something. also sometimes my white brushes are super stained with color so i use olive oil only on the needed brushes to remove any leftover color and they end up like brand new. dont forget that if you use olive oil you need to rinse your brush like 47673 times with the soap to make sure you get all the oil out.
At bare minarls they have a spray for cleaning brushes and its simple quick and easy all you have to do is pick the selected brush that needs to be cleaned spray the brush or a towl and rub the brush on the towl . It works pretty good !
Baby shampoo is the best & cheapest soap for brushes. Think about it, it has to be delicate enough for a baby! &for spot cleaning i LOVE the sephora brush cleaner. Its not overly expensive, smells great(and the scent doesnt linger on brushes) &it works amazingly! It dries super fast! Excellent for spot cleaning/disinfecting or on the go(:
I use a homemade mixture that works GREAT on my brushes and makes them nice and soft!
Mix 1 cup Distilled Water,2 TBS Rubbing Alcohol and 1 TBS Baby Shampoo together in a bowl or in a spray bottle and just dip your brushes in the mixture and then rub on a towel or run water on the brushes and it makes them extremely soft and clean!(:
I usually use baby shampoo, or my facial foam to wash my brushes - never really felt my brushes turn dry. And for the daily spray, id recommend elf's daily brush cleanser.
Baby shampoo sounds like it works really well! I have bought some new brushes and they said to wash before use and I wasn't sure :S So thank you everybody!
ELF Brush Shampoo is great, you can get it at Target for $3.00. You could also use Baby Shampoo. There's always coupons so sometimes I get it for under a $1.00 ! For deep cleaning I use Treseme Shampoo, it leaves my burshes smelling great and really soft.

Last time I tried any type of oil on my brush it wrecked it! Would it be alright just to use hand soap?
