I was going thru my collection of eyeshadows when it occurred to me that I have a ton of shimmers, glitters, frosted, etc. formulas but hardly a nice collection of matte shades. I realized that I don't even have a matte chocolate brown!!! I need to build up my matte collection...what shades do you suggest I should add? Looking for brown, dark blue, green, and purple. Thank you. :)
If you want to get a good deal and really nice shades, pick up the Too Faced Matte palette. For $36 you get 9 really good quality shades that blend well and have great pigmentation. I reach for this all the time, despite having a pretty good MAC collection. I don't have Inglot so I can't vouch for those, but I definitely think this palette has colors to help with any color combo you'd like to create. I use these with other shades all the time. Makeup Alley has some really great reviews on it too - http://www.makeupalley.com/product/...
I would say Inglot, but I'm not impressed with their neutral range for mattes (unless you're cool toned). Inglot #329 is a very dark brown that is neutral to cool toned. I can barely pull it off.
Honestly...I might get yelled at for this...but Mac Pro. Emphasis on the 'Pro'. Their Mac Pro matte shades are quite nice and if you can order the pan, it's $12. Bottle Green, Naval (blue), Indian Ink (purple), Handwritten (not Pro, but a Matte2 finish). Deep Damson is nice too if you like dark wine shades. It swatches a lot darker than it looks in the pan. Deep Damson looks great in the outer corner with a gold or bronze shade on the lid. I've got swatches.
If you can get your hands on theBalm Meet Matte palette at a discount...GET IT.
i know, it sucks that good neutral mattes are so rare. i need them for my le no make-up look. i swore to never buy higher-end eye shadow because there are good ones from the drugstore. but the only brown mattes that i like out there are Clinique's quad. it's so upsetting.
I have a lot of the MAC eye-shadow's in matte, but Bobbi Brown has some really good Matte shadows as well. And as some others have said Inglot as well. And I also have some Nars and Makeup Forever Mattes too.
