What do you guys think of taking vitamin supplements to help with spots and good skin? I hear acai and vitamin E capsules are the best along side a good diet obviously. I'm breaking out bad lately and it's getting me down so I'm hoping taking supplements will help xxx

Hey! I've tried before, and honestly, it made me break out more. My advice is to amp up your water intake and try a rooibos tea, the rooibos is a natural antioxidant and aids in inflammation- aka breaking out. I drink a rooibos tea whenever I break out (and I try to drink it daily if I remember) and it always helps me!

Thanks! Do you think green tea serves the same purpose? Xx

Green tea is also an antioxidant and it contains carotenoids, which do help with dead skin cell turnover, meaning it should help a little! Green tea has absolutely wonderful health benefits too, great drink supplement for those trying to lose weight. Also has great heart benefits :)

Ok so maybe I should swap my tea and mocha's for green tea and water. Hopefully my skin will clear abit?

Absolutely, it should. Also, eating a ton of fruits and veggies will help too, if your body is happy on the inside, it will look happy on the outside (sounds silly but it's so true!). Eating a lot of tomatoes will help too, and here's why...lycopene is a type of carotenoid which is great for the skin in terms of clearing and helping lessen the effects of the sun (this is what antioxidants do) & lycopene is found in tomatoes. It is the most concentrated in boiled or cooked tomatoes, so eating tomato sauce (not the kind that's ridden with sugar though, read the labels) will REALLY help!

That does help thanks! Just a shame I don't like fresh tomatoes but cooked I don't mind. Also certain things I don't get in my diet as I'm a vegetarian. This is why I was thinking supplements would be a good thing xx

Ahhh...welll, that does add another dimension to this! Supplements may not be a bad idea, but you definitely want to talk to your doctor or a registered nutritionist before, because if you are eating enough things to make up for the lack of protein, it may not even be necessary to take supplements, which would result in you spending money on something you don't necessarily need. Just talk to your doctor or pharmacist, I never take anything without consulting with my pharmacist or doctor first & I know what it's like to have to take supplements, I have a gluten sensitivity.

A green tea faical will help . Get some a green tea bag , dunk it in water , pour some into a ice try . dont let it freeze complety and stick tooth picks in it . and then let it freeze all the way after that . then only use it after you get out of the shower.

Hi Jade,
I'm a Esthetician and have acne prone, oily skin. I take
1) zinc (boosts immune system, prevents breakouts) & Vitamin C
2) L-lysine (heals skin quickly, great for collagen ) EVERYDAY.
3) Drink a ton of water. flush that system. Avoid soda, refined sugar, dairy, candy..Skincare is WORK.
4) Green tea is AMAZING for skin and flushes the system of toxins.
How long have you been a vegetarian? If it's a new phase, your body probably isn't getting enough nutrients. Soybeans, lentils, nuts, or even try vegetarian protein or nutrient powders to add in shakes..

I'm a vegetarian too, and I've seen such a change in my skin it's gotten extra dry. Take @Jena O.'s advice and try and get more nutrients. Your body changes in some ways on a different diet. I was only who never believed the whole "water" thing but trust me it works ! You will never want to have a soda again with the difference it does to your skin.
good luck. :]

Hi Jade,
I used to suffer from acne for many years. I recommend Vitamin A and E capsules. In my case, they were very beneficial. Drinking green tea with lemon is good for your skin and the lemon helps absorb more antioxidants. Also, drink a lot of water (at least 8 glasses a day). It's very important to stay hydrated. Exercising also helps with your impurities so I definitely recommend that as well. For me exercising, yoga, and eating a balanced diet has really helped. Try to stay away from carbohydrates and dairy products. Instead of eating white breads/pastas try 100% whole grain products. I hope this helped :)
