I'm no expert but some simple stuff I find works involves avoiding breakage of hair:
-Don't use a lot of heat on your hair
-Avoid hairstyles that pull hair back tightly
-I personally don't use hairbands with the metal holding it together because they tend to tear out my hair.
Hair growth also has to do with your health, so try taking some vitamins.
Dont brush your hair after the shower until 60-70% of your hair is dry and use wide tooth comb!
Use small amounts of shampoo and always use conditioner!
Natural oils in your hair makes your hair grow longer so if you dont wash you hair till the third and maybe forth day after washing it, the oils in your hair would strengthen and make your hair longer and healthier!
A simple treatment. Once a week fir about 15-30 minutes
Heat
3 tbs of olive oil
1 tbs of honey
Heat on the stove until boiling. Take it off the stove and let it cool down until it is able to handle but is still warm. Put in hair. It really will feel weird but comb threw and let it sit. Yu can put it in a shower cap or a towel and let it sit fir 15-30 minutes and then wash hair normally.
Do this once a week and yu will see results in the first treatment.
Yur hair will be smoother, silkier and will help it grow.

Before you go to bed braid your hair really tight. Sleep with it and just take ur hair out in the morning do that every night and it should help your hair grow.
well number one,patience ;) haha
Avoid using heat if you can.
Try not to brush it if its wet, that can cause breakage.
I also have been taking Biotin ( you can find it at your local drugstore for about 5 dollars) its amazing. My hair normally grows SO slow. The growth is amazing with biotin. =) Hope this has helped!
Avoid using too much heat. Air dry if possible especially if you plan on flat ironing. Find a good heat protectant too! Try to wear your hair up with your ends covered. Like buns or something. It'll prevent outside factors like weather and clothing from causing breakage. Do a moisturizing or protein (alternate between the two) deep conditioning treatment at least every two weeks. Also switch to a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner

1. Heat up 2-4 tablespoons of olive/canola/veggie oil, depending on how thick your hair is. Heat for 20-30 seconds.
2. Use clean fingers and apply graciously to scalp, all over.
3. Repeat until entire scalp is covered in oil. Don't worry about covering the rest of the hair, that's now where it grows from.
4. Set a timer for 5 minutes.
5. Tip head upside-down for five minutes. This step reverses the direction of your blood flow, stimulating your head and causing it to produce hair faster.
6. After tipping head, leave oil in for 2 hours.
7. Rinse with your normal shampoo and conditioner.
8. Repeat every other day.
Hope this helped!

Don't cut it unless you have split ends. People are always like you need to cut it every 2 months, but as long as you don't have split ends, you don't need a cut. Be very vigilant about conditioning your hair and don't use heat if you can avoid it.
one other thing no one has mentioned Scalp Stimulation. When you rub, masage, scratch your scalp blood goes to that spot more nutriants helps your hair grow.
you can get a shampoo bar from lush which help your hair grow.. its a stimulating and reviving minty shampoo bar, its had loads of great reviews... should find them in any lush store and online :)
I grew my hair from totally bald (I shaved my head after having dreads) to having it be pretty long now. Patience is number one.
The other thing that helped a lot was having one hair stylist who helped me through the awkward phases. That was so key! He kept me from getting bored and wanting to chop it all off. When it was really short, he hooked me up with a weave for my bangs so I looked like a skater, which was really cute. And he also gave me good cuts that would grow in nicely so I didn't cut it too much.
Also the front grows more slowly than the back, so keep that in mind as you start to style it.
