went camping with my family this weekend & my cousin wanted her nails done (i don't carry polish around on me, lol. this was pre-planned). so as i'm doing her & her daughter's nails, my sister-in-law (who isn't the cleanest person to begin with) proceeds to use my nail polish on her feet...that have MUD caked in the corners from it raining all day. i ripped her apart limb by limp while cussing her out...in my head of course. THEN she grabs my seche vite & does the same thing. you'd think she would have got a clue when i asked my cousin to wash off her daughter's feet so i could do her toenails. :/
needless to say, i'm throwing away both bottles tomorrow. (well per the internet, i'm dumping them out onto sheets of paper. apparently that's best way to dispose of polish). the seche vite was a bit gloopy to begin with but it's more than half a bottle of a china glaze's harvest moon polish gone. >:O

That stinks :( I've never had that problem before, but not many people ever use my polishes anyway. A shame it was good quality stuff too.

Oh gross, I hate people like that, that have no consideration for the things they borrow. Like, I just wanna say, "Please, treat it like it belongs to someone else, not like it's yours; that's the only way you're not gonna ruin it." I've had to throw away a few bottles that have dried out because they don't know how to close them, but I've never had something like your situation happen to me. That's awful, especially since neither of those are exactly cheap bottles of polish.

I personally wouldn't worry about it unless it has clumps of dirt in it. Polish is a antiseptic. It kill germs and bacteria. That's why in nail salons they can use the same bottle on everyone.

thanks cristin! i never thought about it being an antiseptic but i figured it was strong stuff & even thought about putting some thinner in it since that's strong stuff as well. but alas, i was still skeezed out by it.

Oh you poor thing...I know how you feel. Both of my sister in laws are horrid filthy. I just never let anyone use my polish but me. I will offer to do their feet if they go wash them but when I am somewhere else I keep my nail bag zipped up and right next to me. If it really made you uncomfortable, and there's potential for the same problem, I'd probably try to talk to her nicely about it /: good luck!

Don't throw them away, get your receipts & take it back to where you got it from & exchange it for new ones. The store trashes it anyway since they can't resell it of course. Next time, don't share your nail polish with anyone, don't be shy to say NO.

You're actually suppose to clean your nail polish brushes before and after each person uses it if you are sharing. Their germs/bacteria can get in it and contaminate them. A tip: use water, rubbing alcohol, and nail polish remover to clean it.

Next time, carry drug store polish with you. Save your premium polish for yourself! :-)

I feel the same way. My sister has warts on her hands right by the nail beds and it grosses me put. Then when she asks to use my polish or tools i have to say no but its hard. Ive thrown quite a bit away because of her.
