I have decided I would like to pursue a career in the makeup industry. My question is should I start off by becoming a licensed esthetician or would makeup school be fine? I love makeup and doing it for other people I'm just not very knowledgable to these sort of things. Thanks in advance for all responses.

Makeup School (aka Cosmetology School) would be best. A licensed Esthetician leans more towards "skin care".

I sort of figured as much but didn't know for sure. Skin care is of course important to looking your best but makeup is what I really love. Thanks for the info. <3

Good luck! I think cosmetology school would be the right way to go too...learning, especially about something you already love, will only help you grow as a person :) I'm dabbling in the idea of going to cosmo school myself. Wish you the best!
