Okay so we all know that the new Urban Decay Naked palette has been The newest popular item lately. It seems everyone wants to get it. I don't see what it is so great about it though. Sure it has a good variety of colors, it's a decent palette, but it's almost all SHIMMER! I personally think that it's crazy they only put 2 matte colors in the palette.
Anyone else feel this way? I know Gregory gorgeous (YouTube) has said similar things about it. I've found that I have to kind of make myself use this palette, so I use it up. I prefer
My 120 palette from bh cosmetics.
What does everyone else think of the naked palette? And naked 2? I haven't had a chance to look at that one yet. Does it have more matte colors?
i have both of the naked palettes, honestly?they're both are almost similar to one another, unless you're a huge fan of the browns family. In my opinion,if i look back i should have their Book Of Shadows much more earlier;)
I've also been starting to feel that way about the Naked palettes, and I own both. Plus I have hooded lids so it's not very useful for me to have tons and tons of sparkle that'll only accentuate my hooded lids. I recently picked up the Too Faced Romantic palette and I've loved it because while it doesn't have as many shades per palette (only 9), it's very versatile because it's half shimmer and half matte. They even have an all matte palette, and their palette's are cheaper than UD, they go for about $36. Not to mention their matte palette has GORGEOUS colors. I'm trying my best to be good and not get it, but I'm struggling! Haha. Naked 2 only has three matte colors, it's a bit of a let down since that's only one more matte color than the original Naked palette had :(
You'll be happy to know a mini all matte version will be released soon. However, as a mua in both retail and freelance, I believe it was created bc most people are scared of color. It's meant to sit with the average consumer. And since ud's consumer base is generally that youth and young adult crowd the majority of the eyeshadows are a satin texture.
I might be the odd one out here. I don't mind that there are no mattes, I can see that there aren't mattes before I buy it so I don't get upset about that. The only mattes I need in my life are matte browns, highlights and blacks and the Naked2 did a good job of that. The first Naked could have REALLY used a matte black but Creep was an okay enough black. I have other shadows that are matte and I use them together. I mean for an on the go kind of thing it CAN suck that there aren't mattes but I like using all of my makeup together when I can. I don't find the palettes to be that similar either! I thought I would like my Naked more than my Naked2 but I've been using the second one so much more:) I will say I feel like some of the shadows look the same on the lid. I think Darkhorse and Busted look very similar on the lid as well as some of the lighter shadows, and that kind of sucks because they are both awesome colors. =]
@Falah Do you think too faced palette is more better than the Urban Decay Book of Shadows?i got the BOS IV,to me it was ok nothing overwhelming besides i've never tried anything from Too Faced;)
I really love the naked palette but there is only like 2 matte colors but I love a neutral eye and I can go just natural with a little highlight to a sexy smokey eye I love this palette :) can't wait to get my hands on vice !!
i like it...i don't love it though like so many others do..i was SO excited to buy it, but i'm just now realizing i rarely open it, and when i do it's to used half baked. Occasionally I'll do a full eye look using just the palette, but it's very rare.
@Idah Unfortunately I don't own BOS IV so I wouldn't be able to compare :( sorry...HOWEVER, I'm loving the Too Faced palette that I have and am considering buying more because so far I've only heard/read positive things about them... But of course I would suggest trying it out and doing a little research for yourself as well before taking the plunge, just to make sure that the brand/shadows are going to be right for you :)
I thought the naked palette from UD was a little to shimmery for me. I have deep set eyes and sadly the glitter falls off easily because of the slope (at least for me). I personally love the Nude palette from TheBalm because the colors are gorgeous, buttery, and the packaging is adorable :)
naked is for warmer tones and naked 2 for cool tones, such a useful palette,I used them on a few photoshoots and can't deny the quality of ud shadows are amazing and used with eye potion primer they look amazing..defo worth the buy esp naked 2!!!

I actually love shimmer!! I love the First Naked pallet better than the second. But if there were a couple more matte shaded that would be awesome!!

I dont like how frosty some of the colors look on me. I have to be very careful with that palette , because I can end up looking a hot mess.
