Hello there!
I've had the hardest time coming up with a "name" as a freelance makeup artist. I've googled tricks and tips for coming up with one BUT STILL NO LUCK. As of now I am going by my first and last name. Arianna Scott makeup artist. I want to feel unique. Any ideas??
I come across other makeup artists who have really cool names and i feel like my name alone doesn't work well enough. There are other arianna MUA's out there already. Your name is very unique. It does work nicely :)
Stage names typically come off tacky and amateur. I mean no malice intent behind that statement. Think of all the best makeup artists in the world, they all use their first and last name. The most professional bet is just using your own name.
A lot of the names out there are made up I thought. But I use my real name now because I think it works best until I think of something better. Thanks for the tip! I don't think it's amateur, however I think if it's something that sounds like it belongs as a username than that statement would be true.
Take time out to really Sit.Relax.and meditate and your name will come to you, try not to stress out about it and let it come naturally to you. Otherwise if you have a nickname your family/friends have given you that would be a great start.
Overall I would avoid receiving names from us strangers who do not know your personality we might throw out some good options but it may not be real to who you are : /
* but if all else fails use your street name and your middle name WAIT! I think that's for strippers n/m :P
good luck
Do you like your middle name? I'm 'blessed' with a REALLY unique name so stalker people wouldn't have an issue finding me, lol so my blog is "C to the Fourth" it stands for "Caitlin Chase Christian Corture" and it doesn't use my last name!
I think you have a beautiful name, kind of unique to (trust me..I'm a Katie, do you know how old it gets hearing your name called out and it not being for you? Or worse being for you and you ignore it..lol) however I can see the allure of a stage name. So how about a combo of your name? Ascott Makeup Artistry..I think that has a nice ring. But it's your name, an your profession It's all up to you girl! (: just play with things u like. If it still feels wrong, you always have a beautiful name to fall back on!
What's wrong with Arianna Scott? I think it's a great name. It has a nice ring to it, it's easy to spell and pronounce and it reads well in a credit. The other thing is a lot of clients pay to the name that you use so you will have to be specific when requesting payment this is my real name, this is my professional name - it's kind of pain.
you have a beautiful first name what I would do is look up word in french or Italian and come up with something that says something about you or your work that sounds beautiful with your first name
I have found that as an MUA, your clientele would rather refer to you by name. If you choose a "stage" name, you may restrict yourself on jobs. I know another artist that actually has the word bride in her stage name or name of her own makeup company of just herself... so needless to say she mostly caters to brides. If you want to do all kinds of makeup, I would use your name. People will remember your name better than a company name or stage name. Even I can't remember stage names of other artists and refer to them using their real names! If you want to be unique, you can use your real name and create a logo. Brand yourself. Thats what I did. It's on all of my social media outlets. Beautiful name! Use it:)

Make sure it's something you would want to keep forever. When it comes to branding you don't want to keep changing it.

Maybe you could shorten your name, something like Aria, then create from that maybe AriaMakeup?

You should meditate on what sounds good to you.
