Five weeks ago I had surgery to remove half of my liver. I have a scar that is 4.5 inches from my belly button to my breast bone and another scar on the side of my belly from the surgical drain. I've been using aloe, a coco butter oil with vitamin e, and medrema. I'd love to hear tips and tricks everyone has for large scars.

I just read a blog saying that argan oil is good for scars... maybe that can help

My sister was bit on her lip/face by a dog she had to have stiches and the doc thought she would need plastic sergery to look normal but she tried mederma an over the counter scar Product and u can't see the scar at all and she was able to avoid plastic surgery

I'll look up some argan oils and it's good to know mederma worked for your sister since that's what I am using right now. Thanks ladies!

@ Dani M - I recommend Bio Oil, you can get it from CVS or any drug store. I used this for my scars & after 4 to 5 weeks it faded. You got to hurry up & use it though because the older the scars get, the harder it is to treat it/make it fade. Make sure you follow the instructions on how often to use it (twice daily) otherwise it wont work.

Thanks Mary. I actually got Bio Oil but I haven't started to use it yet. I've still been taping up my scar in spots because it looks like it's separating. I'm hoping that in a week from now I'll be able to stop using the tape and treating it more. Thanks for the info!

@ Dani M - Your welcome! make sure your scars have no open wounds/ cuts & not bleeding before you start using Bio Oil. I'm sure you will love the end results :-)
