Hi beauty's! I want to get myself some clip-in hair extensions! But because I have red hair, and the websites I have visited only have one or two shades of red, I don't really know how to get a good match for my color. So I'm thinking of coloring them myself, or bring them to my hairdresser and get her to color them for me.
So my questions are:
1. Is it possible/easy to dye clip-in hair extensions, and get a good result? (human hair of course)
2. Should I do it myself or bring them to my hairdresser? I don't color my own hair by the way.
3. What color hair extension should I buy? Red, blonde, platina/white?
It's super easy! As long as you look after them well afterwards.
Just make sure you get the closest colour that your hair was when you dyed it. (For example if it was blonde before you dyed it red get blonde ones.)
If you don't colour your hair yourself take them to the salon, they might charge you a little extra but it'll get them the closest colour.
Thank you! The tips you give about the color choice sounds logic, and I am naturally a blonde. The thing that worries me about it is that my own hair had to be dyed a few times to get to the color that I have now, so I'm afraid that it will be the same with the extensions? What do you think? I'm looking into that maybe a strawberry blonde will be the best choice..
If you are dying them at the hairdressers where they know what they did then buy the color you had before the red and take them there. If you are dying it yourself you will just have to push your luck like me :) it took me 2 dyes to match my blonde extensions to my red
I had red hair with clip in extensions for quite some time. I bought extensions that matched, or closest matched my base color and used the same dye on my hair and extensions. If I had extensions that were a little too light, I would normally use a lower developer so it didn't lighten the hair as much. This is when I did my hair myself.
I now have blonde hair with extensions. I wanted silver hair with silver extensions, so I took my extensions to the salon when I went to lighten my hair and dye it silver. They COMPLETELY RUINED my extensions, it turned them ice blue. It was beautiful, but it did not match... not at all. I dished out another few hundred dollars to get new extensions and just colored them myself. I HATE going to the salon because I'm the kind of person who believes if I want something done right, I have to do it myself. So no more hair salon for me! ...as far as my extensions go, I'll always color them myself after they ruined $300 + worth of hair
