MOST guys prefer sweeter scents. That doesn't mean they don't like the others, but since you don't know his preferences, I would either go with something sweet/mild or go VERY light. On a first date (if you haven't known the guy previously in other ways) he is looking to feel comfortable and excited by you. If you want high end: Prada Candy, Viva La Juicy Le Fleur, etc.. Find one that works well for you! If you're looking for a body spray or a less expensive version, try VS Love spell, VS pinks feel flirty etc..
Also another fun option is a great smelling hair oil. Put it on the ends of your hair, an on the hollow in your neck so if the night does end in a hug/kiss/etc..he will smell it when he leans in and he will think it is just the way you smell (;

Agree with other posters tho that you must try them out before buying to make sure they will work with your chemistry. However, I have yet to find someone who can't wear Coco Mademoiselle.

Susan what's coco noir like? I enjoy very strong perfume n staying power eg angel alien Hermes 21 farbourg, narcesco Rodriguez pink bottle . So is this Chanel noir along those line as strength n longevity???
