I agree with Keri. I've heard aloe vera helps with them. I used to get red bumps after shaving, but then I started using hair conditioner instead of shaving cream and I don't have that problem anymore!

Hi, in addition to the other great ideas above, I'd suggest trying to put deodorant (white stick kind) over the areas you shave after you get out of the shower! It seems like it would irritate it, but it can actually make it smoother and less itchy/hurtful. Hopefully it will help the red bumps go away!

Try witch hazel. I use it every time after I shave. It nicks red bumps even around bikini line and reduces ingrown hairs.

as an esthetician, I say wax. if your not ready for that: Always use clean razor. And a few drops of tea tree oil on damp skin will keep bacteria at a minimum

skin so soft bath oil.. smells great, moisturizes and minimizes the bumps. also on thighs where they are really bad, give them a dusting with powder that contains cornstarch.

Okay so before you shave each time try using a exfoliating puff (I attached a picture because I don't know the proper name for them lol) this will help with opening up the hair follicle because you hair doesn't all grow at the same time. So what happens is when you go to shave, you shave off the hair that has grown out, but your razors also runs over the bumps where the hair is trying to grow back through. Now this is probably where the irritation is coming from.
That's why it is very beneficial to exfoliate before shaving, as it helps give a more even shave and helps prevent irritation.
Also using hair conditioner helps a lot for a easier shave too, as it softens the hair :)

i had this problem before, the doctor said because i have sensitive skin and might be because of the gel and razor are not good/high quality. she said the best thing is not to shave it or try to wax, if still have red bumps after that then dont do it. well, you can if you can bear with the red bumps.

Are the red bumps always there? If the are always there, you might have keratosis pillarris aka chicken skin. Little red bumps. Try amlactin lotion twice a day. The problem with KP is it never goes away. If you stop with the lactic acid lotion, it'll come right back. It's a pain! I have it myself =p

I have experimented with many different products as shaving cream to find the smoothest, most bump-free shave. The red bumps on my legs went away completely when I started using either jojoba oil or coconut oil in place of shaving cream. Jojoba has antibacterial properties, so I would recommend it over coconut oil, although both work well. If this doesn't work for you, I would suggest buying a product called Tend Skin. It comes in a blue bottle and is probably sold at your local beauty supply or possibly the drug store. Another weird but effective treatment for red bumps is using a thin layer of neosporin in place of shaving cream. It automatically kills any bump-causing bacteria, while leaving your legs silky smooth. Hope this helps! Xo

I get the same problem! I personally use a shaving cream that doesn't foam. My favorite is Ambrosia from LUSH, it's soothing, and moisturizing, almost like shaving with a lotion. I also exfoliate before I shave [you get a closer shave that way anyway!]

Put Vaseline on the red bumps. They'll clean up quick:) I usually shave at night and then out it on. Red bumps are gone by morning. Shaving with baby oil is also a way to prevent them.
