So I can't find any information about my dilemma!

I usually go every other day, and sometimes more, without washing my hair. My hair is naturally very dry/curly so I do this to keep it from getting worse.

However, I've been noticing for a few months now that on days where I don't wash my hair the lower 1/3 of my hair gets so icky and dry. I use moisturizing products and deep condition at least once a week AND I use shampoo that gets rid of minerals from hard water. Does anyone have any advice?

After you shower take some castor oil (hair product) and rub it in your palms and go over your hair with it ... Just take a tiny bit though

That happens to me too. Try using conditioner only in the shower on days that you don't shampoo. Otherwise, use a moisturising cream on the ends before going to bed.

You could always try washing your hair daily, it's a complete myth that its bad for it. I have very fine hair so it really needs the wash daily!

Try using silicone free conditioners, it gives a synthetic feeling of softness, weighs down and builds up on ur hair making it feel crappy unless u use it everyday. Go natural, it will take about a month to get the synthetic gunk off, but ur hair will love u for it

Also you might want to try Afro hair leave in conditioners

It's not a myth about not washing your hair everyday DONt wash it everyday it will strip the naturals oils and your curly dry hair can handle the oil (others with fine textured hair might find it too heavy) its your shampoo most. hard water shampoos are clarifiers so they really help super clean your hair and can be drying if used everyday. I recommend interchanging it with a moisturizing shampoo to help balance your hair

Moroccan oil moisture shampoo and conditioner!! I color my hair ritually! Going dark to light with no concern for my hairs health . Real Moroccan oil not grocery store brand! Also the oil treatment it's self is a great starter ;)

I have to agree with Sarah on this one. I do NOT recommend using a clarifying shampoo weekly, especially if you are already using a shampoo to remove hard water buildup from your hair. What you can do it try washing your hair less from every other day to about twice a week if you must. Also, try co-washing your hair. Co-washing is when you wash your hair with a moisturizing conditioner in the same manner that you would shampoo. The conditioner can clean your hair enough for it to feel a little cleaner, as well as put moisture into your hair. Personally, I co-wash as needed (lately, it's been once a week; more if I sweat) and shampoo once weekly. I only clarify my hair once a month to remove any buildup because those can wreck havoc on your hair, especially if it's curly (which tends to be drier than other hair types). The natural oils cannot travel down the hair strand so you have to help your hair by giving it moisture.

For the hard water problem adding to your dry hair, look into investing in a water filter. Trust me, it will help your hair out a lot.

Wash your hair once a week. If you feel you need another wash, do a co-wash ( wash your hair with conditioner). Use a cream moisturizer on your ends at night and seal the moisture in with the best extra virgin olive oil that you can afford. Also make sure that you wrap your hair at night.

I think the problem is your deep conditioning too much. There is info on it actually but some deep conditioners have protein and I have heard this dilemma before. Too much protein in the hair can make it very dry and brittle and you're only experiencing it on your ends that's why I said its the deep conditioner cuz that's where you would usually apply it. Also, I agree: it is very bad to wash your hair every day because your hair does need the natural oils it produce. If you every find that your scalp tends to get really oily then that's a clear indicator that you may shampoo way too much. When you're constantly stripping the natural oils in your hair you are actually training your hair to produce more oil

Maybe try deep conditioning every other week or once a month? And you definitely don't need to wash your hair every day.
